Having travelled to Africa, Europe, and Asia, I would tend to say the 'average' American is much wealthier than other nations.
Running water, Medical Facilities, Local Groceries, Roadways, Airports etc.
We have a huge advantage over many nations in just our basic level of living day to day.
I think perhaps many Americans do not truly know how good it is here in comparison to other places.

If you ask the average American, they'll probably say yes. Bc we have become clueless for the most part. But in reality, we live way above our means. The national debt is growing everyday (this is not included all of the individual debt out there)! At this point, with the interest rates, we'll never have it paid off! And whats worse, the exchange rate of the USD is dropping, projected rate at 40%. But of course nobody knows that either.

No, we are a rich country. A large deficit is not any indication of wealth in any shape or form. In fact, the large deficit in some ways makes us more valuable: any country looking to acquire the US would incur our debt. It basically adds to our value. All of that deficit money, 7 trillion as you claim, was all injected into our monetary supply and handed out to American companies, that continue to purchase goods in America.

There is a huge debt we all know that. and we know how people live in many states. I wouldn't consider (and i don't) USA a rich country at all. Just a good show off, a marketing wonder we can say but nothing more.

I have been to third world countries. We are rich. When almost everyone has a home and at least two meals a day you are rich compared to the rest of the world.

I think the rich folks in America are considered very rich. What is considered average in America would be considered very rich in most countries. However, one third of America's population live in third world country conditions...so its really hard to say. compared to other countries, wealth in the states is very inconsistent...
