we have 2 ford focus vehicles that are 2007 models, On ours, if the passenger weighs less than 25 lbs, the airbag system disables itself and a light on the dash comes on telling you that is is disabled. I don't know on the 2001. BUT, all manufacturers recomend that you never carry the baby in a car seat in the front seat. It is much safer in the back seat. In fact, the owners manual for your daughters car should have that warning in it. Also, both of ours have the extra mounting bracket in the back seat, on the backrest for securing a car seat. If your daughter insists on placing the babies car seat in the front, and that air bag is not e activated, it will cause serious injury or death to the baby if it deploys. Also, never try ti disable it yourself, they are dangerous!!!

When i last checked, there were numerous state laws accros the US that state you are to place those seats in the back seat area. this is due to the explosive force of an airbag going off jaring and causing injurys to children in the child safety seat. contact your local law enforcement to find out if it is legal for the child to ride in the front before trying to disable saftey features on a vehicle.

Unless this is an American model car, there is no reason why your Daughter cannot safely use the front passenger seat for her baby.
In essence, in a severe collision it is the safest seat in the whole car!!!!
American air-bags explode with 10 times the force (because the thickies don't use seat belts) of our air-bags which are designed to work WITH seat-belts. The idea of using the rear seat and avoiding air-bags is a 'catch-all' situation.
The passenger air-bag can be disabled, but I cannot remember exactly how, your local Ford dealer will advise you further and it is THEIR advice that you should take; not anyone on here (myself included).

i know how to disable the air bag but for any reason ill told how to do it to ignorant people and any one who are reading this go and flag me or help people like this do stupid things
stop the car and go to the back seat and attend the kid JUST THAT EASY

Not if you did'nt have that feature intalled when you bought it. If it does there will be a pace on the dash for a key to turn it off!

If it's legal in your state for her to let the child ridein that seat, have her go to the Ford dlr. srv. dept. and ask to have it dis-abled.

It is possible to remove the airbag but do not try it yourself.

I don't know. (Oops.) Your best bet is to set the thing off somehow and get rid of it. Frankly, get rid of the car. There are holes in the weld of the turbine shaft. I know because I help manufacture them. The supervisor made us pass them, so I quit the job.
