You should still need some extra calories, but an extra 500 sounds like too much.
You could try to right down what you eat each day to get an idea of what you are taking in. Then decrease it a bit for a few days and see how the supply is and how you feel.
As your child gets older it may take a little trial and error to figure out what you need. But, if you feel good and are at a healthy weight, keep doing what you're doing.

I'd assume so, yes. Since your body is working to produce the milk, it needs extra energy to do this. However, you might not need 500 calories per say since a 2 year old is most likely eating more solids than a 7 month old, you know?
I know after my 11 month old nurses a lot at night, I feel famished.

You need the same amount of calories unless you are dramatically decreasing breastfeeding times. Then you can cut that number in half. I applaud you for still breastfeeding. I stopped a couple months ago when my son was one and he has been sick ever since. I would do anything to have the determination to of kept going. I think it's great that your child has a mom that cares that much about him.

Not 500 as they are probably not nursing exclusively...but you must make sure you eat well and particularly get lots of calcium!

You still need to eat enough as breast feeding at any age takes it out of you.

I think 2 yrs old is too old to be breast feeding. You probably should consider a cup and some finger foods.
I will probably be "BOOOOd for that comment, but thats just my opinion. When you kid can pull up your shirt and tell you he wants fed and actually whip your tit out. Thats too damned old.

If the kid is old enough to ask for it,or to start helping himself he is to old! There is no way I would want to be able to remember nursing, and the child is getting to the age where they remember things.
