Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

You don't have to eat salad and tofu to lose weight. The simple fact of the matter is all you need to do is take in less calories than you expend in a day and you will lose weight. You can do this by a combination of diet change and exercise. Lessen your intake of calories by reducing portion size, reduce fat intake as much as possible, and count calories to know what you are REALLY consuming (we are notoriously bad at underestimating how much we are taking it). Increase calorie expenditure by MOVING. It really doesn't matter what you eat (a calorie is a calorie) or how you move (walk, jog, swim, etc.) just so long as you do it and stick with it!! That is the key. Adopt a lifestyle that you can MAINTAIN.

My advice would be to do 30 minutes of exercise a day start slow and gradually go faster and longer. Also, try to make sure you eat 2-3 serves of fruit, low fat diary products, wholegrains and proteins including: eggs, lean meats, skinless chicken and beans. Don't deprive yourself from junk food occasionally(once a week) enjoy a small chocolate bar or any small treat of your choice. Good luck with the weight loss.
