Many of the Eastern religions wouldn't even bat an eyelash...

I believe it is entirely possible that could happen, and I believe that people who assume that we are the only life form in the universe are being rather arrogant.

Yes, it would shake up a lot of things, but I don't think it would necessarily disprove the existence of any god, except for maybe the less open-minded people (certain Christians) who may claim that it was a lie the devil made up to turn people from their god. But I believe that many intelligent Christians will understand that extraterrestrial life is yet another thing their bible fails to mention.

I believe that new-agers, pagans, and scientologists wouldn't really be that surprised about extraterrestrial life being discovered. I know I wouldn't. My question is how the world's governments (particularly US) will react.

Basically bacteria exist on other planets, period. Its almost statistically certain, be it if one planet was hit by a meteor and it scattered the bacteria onto other planets or whether it was transferred by astronaughts etc.

If there's water there's life is the rule of thumb.

I don't know if it has any bearing on whether there is a God or no, as he could have planned that. I'd daresay one life inhabited planet is almost boring for an infinite being.

NPWJ- let's just hope if we come into contact with advanced alien beings they don't have the same mindset as you, as they could more than likely enslave us all with ease.

On the contrary, my friend. It would prove god exists because Allah says he know all that is in between "the heavens and the earth" meaning that there is life on other planets out there or there's not. It could be a clue, that there is indeed other life in space, but its impossible to reach them because of the vastness of space, and the lack of energy, at least for now..unless we could travel at the speed of light and were super advanced at fining planets that have life on them, we wont find them... anyways, nothing happens without Allahs permission so we will or we wont, we just have to wait and see

No, not at all. My religion only focuses on God and attaining nirvana. I don't care if there is another world of intelligent being out there. It simply means that we're not alone, and that creation is not as how the Bible views it.

Why should it? Man's SOUL is made in God's Image, not our black/white/red/yellow/brown/ male/female/perfect/crippled bodies! Besides, WE are the 'crown of Creation'. We have to go out and convert THEM too!

Muahahahaha!!!

the human brain can rationalize anything.

show us an intelligent alien and they'll find a way to reinterpet a verse to fit. That's the beauty of a pick-and-choose book.

It would put pay to the 'god's image' lie, that's for sure.
Maybe they would have a god that looked like them..in their image.

Egotism is probably a part of every species' evolution.

I am a Christian and it would not shake my faith. The Bible is silent about life on other planets, and silence is not necessarily denial. I believe there probably is life on other planets.

In the Bible, he is referred to as the God of Hosts.
Hosts of what?
Do your honestly think God expects us to think that out of billions of galaxies filled with billions of stars, we'd be the only ones?
