How can you break free from a co-dependent relationship? I was with my boyfriend for 8 years and just recently moved out 3 months ago. We still talk. He got laid off his job and I have been paying his bills just like I did when we lived together. I feel like I do it because I love him but I also know that this is crazy. I am not going to see him today. I am trying to cut ties but this is hard. WHat am I supposed to do?? This guy has no job, no license and no transportation.

Sorry to be blunt- he is a total loser. He is sucking the life out of you. You are doing everything for this dude and he really doesn't need to lift a finger. I am assuming he is an adult - he needs to find his own way. He has obviously been using you for his laziness.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to break it off with him and never talk to him again. You deserve someone that is going to give you some benefit out of the relationship and not all YOU giving to him. There is the perfect guy out there for you - this loser isn't him. If he were he would be treating you better.

As for what you can do - just stop talking, texting him, and emailing him. Start living your life - use that extra money your going to have to treat yourself to something nice.

Good luck and hope it helps

As they say - If you love someone - set them free - so set him free. He will never learn to stand in his own feet if you keep bailing him out. You can help him to find a job or let him know of you hear of a job opening that may work for him - but his bills should be His Bills!!! Good luck to you.

Let him know that you'll support him, but if he wants to be with you, he has to get a job && start paying his bills/or what ever. but if you're not gunn be with anymore just talk to him about your situation

You have been badly exploited all these years. Since he has moved out, this is the proper time to sever all relations with him.
