yes, 8th grade for a 15 year old is behind, but if they are able to understand the lessons and you feel they are working at a pace that is manageable for them then don't worry what others say (I know it is easier said than done).

Being 15 and in the eighth grade isn't the oldest even if you are a year behind. There was this guy who was 18 when he was a sophomore(and he looked like a junior or senior), and he graduated at like, 20. He started school at around 10 or something.

A 15 year old should be a freshman or a sophomore in high school. And most people graduate at 17 or 18. But some people have late birthdays so even if you graduate at 17 you could still be basically almost a year behind most people if your birthday is in October-December. One girl's birthday was at the end of December, now that's late. And then there's one freshman girl who was 16 and she'll probably graduate at 19. And this one guy who was 19 or 20 and still didn't get to walk-he got held back several times.

Don't worry about it, you're not the oldest...

The cut off for starting school here is August 1st. With a birthday after that date, you probably started kindergarten at 5 and turned 6 the next month.

K-6
1-7
2-8
3-9
4-10
5-11
6-12
7-13
8-14
9-15

So yeah I'd say you are behind a year. Did you get held back for a year?

Or did your mom hold you back and you didn't start kindergarten till you were 6, turned 7 the next month? Then you're right where you should be.

9 th or 10th it depends on when your birthday is.

edit: If your birthday is after Sept 1, then you missed the cut off for being 5 in order to go to Kindergarten. So you would have been nearly 6 when you did start Kindergarten. You would be a grade behind.

No because most states require you to be 5 before Sep 1 to go to Kindergarten. So you were not held back you are in the right grade for your age.
