I want to order some books from Amazon.com for a friend in Iraq...anyone know if they'll ship to Iraq? If not does anyone know of a place you can buy books that will? I don't want to wait for Customer Service to get back to me, I want to order this stuff today.

Thanks so much!

When I was in Iraq I ordered books from Amazon many times. The only time I had a problem was when I tried to order the computer game 'Sims II.' They would not ship because they were concerned about export control laws.

Military addresses are APO/FPOs and all sellers will ship to those. The only problem is the default way of sending them is by Media Mail, which will take a long time to get there (up to 4 weeks).

You might consider having them all sent to you by Media Mail then put them in a Priority Flat Rate box to send to your friend.

Iraq is not listed as one of the countries in the shipping address area. However they will ship to APO/FPO addresses. If the person you want to ship the book to is in the military you should be able to send via an APO/FPO address.

I am here in Iraq right now and deal with Amazon all the time. My address is APO AE 09391. It takes about a week to arrive here once shipped. There's no problem if you have them send it to your friend. I guarantee it.

Amazon ships to FPO/APO addresses, although postal regs do limit what can be shipped. It will go USPS only.

Mail forwarding services may. http://www.bongous.com is one I use.

That said, if your friend is in the military, you are likely best sending it through which ever service he/she is. Get the information for the staging point for their branch and then address it as they instruct you.
