At times, a question such as this will elicit dozens and dozens of elaborate schemes to spare a householder an unwanted conversation with Jehovah's Witness door-to-door ministers.

All such schemes are a complete and utter waste of time!

Many of your neighbors have figured it out, and it's really quite simple:
1. Open the door
2. Smile (optional)
3. Ask "Jehovah's Witness?"
4. Receive affirmation
5. Say, "Thank you, but I'm not interested"
6. Gently close the door (slamming is rude, but your prerogative)

Please recognize that Jehovah's Witnesses are not primarily interested in converts, but in working to obey Jesus' command to preach (Matt 24:14; Matt 28:19,20).

I am a Jehovah's Witness and the reason we go around doors is because we believe that is our duty (Jesus said to his apostles to preach and so, as followers, we do so)

We do believe Jesus is the son of God. I think it's Islam who believe he is a prophet, but i can't be sure...

I really don't want hate-comments and i assure you we do this duty as we believe it helps you. Whether you believe we are helping you or not, as a human beings it's only polite to simply refuse if you are not interested. turning up naked to your door is enough to stop anyone coming round.

As JW's we do deeply respect others beliefs (we often talk about these things in our kingdom halls) and i always make sure to tell the person that i am happy if they take an interest in religion. We do return to doors as many people DO accept what we have to say and to us it's worth being rejected so many times if it means finding one person who takes an interest.

If you would like an effective and friendly way of making us leave then just let us know that you aren't interested. The JW should respect that and offer you something (publication-wise) and if you decline that then we should be on our way. We do believe in persistence but we certainly don't believe in rudeness. I make sure never to say anything that may offend.

I don't follow any type of religion at all however, I'm always interested in what others' believe in so honestly, whenever the JW's have come around, I invite them in...offer them something to drink and eat and then get into a fun debate.

It's awesome! :-)

I usually thank them for thinking of me ..and sometimes I would really like to chat but that I am busy at the moment...They never come back at least not til the next time they are told they have to go knocking on doors...I usually am busy though...aren't we all? I heard they have to do this as a part of their faith...So its ok ,to each their own.

I usually say HI! but then I am a Witness:D

Honestly when someone comes to my house, I either answer, or dont. I then either talk with them, or don't. If I am done I say have a nice day, goodbye. If someone is coming to offer something, I either say yes and accept or no, and reject (politely)

I don't say anything! I show up naked at the door with a frozen chicken and let that do the talking!! :)

LOL on a serious note I do not even open the door. Granted I am glad they are that into their religion, I am very rooted in my own beliefs as well, I just do not see the need to convert anyone else.

When I was 15 (many years ago), those people came knocking on my mom's door. I opened the door and yelled, "Mom! Dad! The human sacrifices you ordered are here!" Seriously. And none have been back since. lol! I knew at the time it was a stupid and immature thing to do, but it kept them away!

Ask them to show you where it says in the Bible Jesus is the Archangel Michael. This is what they believe, they do not believe Jesus is God. They can not show you this in the Bible, so they will run as fast as they can to get get an elder.

Then, when the elder comes, don't answer.

I don't know. I haven't had the "pleasure" of having them darkening my doorway. Although, last Friday I had a meeting with two Morons, I mean Mormons... it was interesting. I couldn't even say "Lord, open my eyes and make me a humble heart", without laughing. Ahhh... so sad.

I thank them for their interest in my beliefs. If they say they did not come by to learn of my beliefs, I had them a list of false prophecies and ask them to come back when the can explain them and why they follow an organization that has made such errors.
