As a human resources manager for a large oil & gas company...to have a felony or a misdemeanor "LARCENY" on your background check...I wouldn't hire you!
You would be considered untrustworthy!
There is no excuse for stealing. Maybe they should send you to jail for a day so that you can learn the fullest extent of what a felony is all about. Do you really want a felony on your record.

It all depends on store policy.
Some stores have strict policy where all thefts are reported to police. If this is the case, you will be brought to the juvenile court, and you will have the opportunity to speak. Then the judge will decide what to do with you.
Most likely, you will be sentenced to some community service and sincere apology to the store and your parents, especially if this was your first offense.
When your case is called, be apologetic, sincere, and most of all, stress that you are very sorry and you will NEVER do it again. Then ask for leniency. That's all you can do.
You did commit a crime and you will likely face some type of punishment.
By the way, if you want to prepare yourself, you can visit the court house and watch the proceedings. Most cases are open. You can then learn what to expect and prepare yourself better.

Personally you should go to juvie.
Maybe you will think twice about stealing again.
But you will probably get off with some community service and probation. Not enough if you ask me. We need to be instill some fear in our youth today. The courts are making it too easy for youth to reoffend.
Try not to steal anymore, I am tired of spending my hard earned money on higher priced items because people like you are ripping off department stores.
Good luck!

More then likley you will get probation and community service. You will have to pay all fines and Court Cost. May I say that wasn't one of the smartest things to do. I wouldn't do it again. I have seen alot of girls start down the wrong path with just stealing a pair of ear rings... also you can go to CO jail at 17.... I have booked alot of them.

You'll probably get probation, or a fine to pay, or maybe some community service. Why in the he-- do you kids, or even adults for that matter, think that you have to steal? If you need it that bad, I'm sure there is someone out there.. SOMEWHERE that will loan you the money for that cheap azz pair of earrings you stole, and now have a record for.

its a misdemeanor depending on the amount that you stole (dollar amount of goods)... you will get probation I am sure and community service as well. This will be on your record but will fall off when you turn 18 because you are a juvenile.
Good motto to live by- if you cant buy- dont take...this was a costly mistake for you and I am sure very embarrassing...I hope that you learned a lesson...

Be blessed that you live in the USA and you are given second chances. Other countries would put you in jail, if not worse cut your fingers off.
I am sure you will end up with community service and probation. You might end up having to pay a fine and they may delay you in getting your license.

You will probably have to pay a fine or go to some youth services program, possibly both.
