I just brush it off, because the truth is, those people are so transparent its disgusting and by attempting to answer everything they are just trying to hide some flaw or weakness. I figure if they need to do that to feel good about themselves then more power to them, that doesn't mean I have to listen!

I've met such people. They're self-proclaimed experts on everything and will pretend to know more than everybody else about pretty much any subject that comes up, regardless of whether or not they actually know much about it. It's annoying. I avoid such people.
Then there are those who simply have different opinions than I (or others) about some subjects, but act like their opinion is "right" and all others are "wrong", while opinions are not really a matter of who's right but what each individual thinks. That's annoying too.
So far I've handled such individuals by ignoring them. What they say goes in through one ear and straight out of the other ear.

Every day I meet someone like that. I just ignore them because I don't want someone to always disagree about what I have to say. There is then no point in talking to them.

Oh sure, happens all the time. I just avoid them as much as possible and try not to get into a conversation with them. If it's someone you have to work with or see socially on a regular basis, that's harder but eventually people like that are going to find themselves without any friends and everyone avoiding them.

I have a coworker like that. I usually just ignore it when he acts like that. If he's saying something I know not to be true, I will say that I disagree. Otherwise I just leave the situation alone. It is frustrating though sometimes.

Yes, my boss. Even if I'm right, I just let him win the battle. These people always have to be right. I'd usually just say ignore them, but in my case as it's my boss, I just learn to deal with it.
I wouldn't befriend someone like that though.

The wrong way by taking my shots when I get them and going over the top to prove that I am right. Or by asking them a question that I know they can't answer that I know the answer to.

I would just laugh and say no point in continuing since all your conversations are rhetorical. You obviously don't need anyone to converse with...then walk away. Eventually he will get the point.

There are always going to be those type of people. Don't sweat it, take the high road, it is less crowded.
