This gentleman has a large collection of documentation and letters, etc. from WWII. He was recently asked to become curator at a museum in McMinnville, OR and share his collection. Worth looking into.

There is the Department of Millitary Records in ST Louis MO . Are you looking for American prisoners of war or prisoners of war say in Germany , Poland , or in the Pacific? As far as military records their is a time restiction on military records but for genealogy research if you can prove direct kindmenship to the one you are researching you can get a lot of infomation about them don't let others throw stumbling blocks in your way pursue because there is a lot more info out there than people realize that they can get. The trouble has come from the ones who are trying to steal others identy and that has caused a lot of trouble for those who want to do honest and proper research.

You can probably get a listing of POW's from the government, but military records are not public records for just anyone to thumb through.
