a friend told me the process was just the reverse of a perm.

ditto to above. (ottilie).....have done in may times when a perm would be wearing out and i wanted to get back to my really straight hair...just combed it out very straight and left solution on for the length of time you would keep it in rollers...follow the instructions from there on...

yes you can...your friend is correct it is called a reverse perm...i think it is a safer way to straighten the hair as compared to the Japanese straightening (which can be extremely damaging)
there are other products that can be used to reduce wave and frizz and smooth fluffy hair (Opti.Smooth, Extenso) both work wonderfully

don't think so the clue being in the name "perming" i know that hairdressers offer a "permanent" strightening it isn't permanent though lasts usually between 6 and 12 months dependant on hair type/growth etc. i would go to a professional in case it goes wrong as perming solution is a very strong chemical

yeah, i answered a question like this earlier, you just follow the instructions as you would with a perm only instead of putting rollers in you just comb the solution through your hair

well i don't no of perming lotion but i say u just perm it and don't use rollers and comb it down and press it flat iron don't work unless u wrap it so try pressing your hair or something like that

There is somthing you can buy from boots that will straighten ure hair, not sure what it is called but have seen it in boots.
