.Honey.
Most microorganisms do not grow in honey because of its low water activity.
Honey is a traditional topical treatment for infected wounds. It can be effective on antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria.
Honey was found in the tombs of Egyptian Pharaohs. After was tasted it was discovered that was still suitable for eating.
Interesting, isn't it?

Honey. It contains enzymes which keep it from spoiling. This is why honey kept in the pyramids can still be eaten.

McDonald's french fries never spoil...and you can see this for yourself where this experiment was proven on the DVD for "Super Size Me" (as an added extra). Various foods from McDonalds and other restaurants were put under jars for weeks and not a damned thing happened to the french fries where everything else went completely moldy and unrecognizable.
And I can tell you from having tried it personally that Crisco never spoils...you can leave it open in a garage and even the ants and cockroaches will leave it alone.
My guess is that the french fries contain mostly Crisco-based product.

Jarred preserves. I cannot live off of eating salt, oil, & vinegar. Honey is indeed an excellent preserve. But, I would be worried if the jar had lead in the clay leaching into the preserves.
