PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.
Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:
A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%.
PS3 has 8 (7+1) kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in card reader (except 20 gb version), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $
Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. To estimate its power (roughly) - take 6800 Ultra nvidia graphics card, multiply it by 2 - get a result, still PS3 stronger, because 6800 Ultra runs on 400 Mhz and RSX runs on 550 Mhz.
PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.
Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it.
Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......
PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.
There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.
In some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".
The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console.
On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.
PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.
Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. Soon there is going to be cheaper 40GB version of PS3.
Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.
PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 controller is getting vibrocontroller soon (Dualshock 3).
I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.

No. I have many game systems, but do not plan to buy the PS3 any time soon. I do, however, have the Wii and XBox 360. The PS3 at the moment doesn't offer anything beyond what these systems do as far as games go. The Wii is definitely the more fun of the two, though XBox 360 has better graphics. The PS3 *may* be worth it in the future, if new games come out that are optimized for the PS3. That is not guaranteed. Sony has bungled the launch and it is not clear when, if ever, PS3 will take off like the PS2 did. In this situation, developers will develop for other platforms - like XBox 360 - first, then port to the PS3. Thus, PS3 games will be non-exclusive, and will not look much better than on the XBox 360. The only reason to buy would be if you really want a blu-ray player. I say, wait and see how the PS3 works out, and hopefully there will be a price drop, before spending your money.

The Cons:
Sony is f***ing up (Part 1). The PS3 has suffered a string of delays that has cast a bad light on a great system. A lot of games and accessories that should've come out already have been pushed to early next year. Some will get released in Japan or on the Xbox 360 while we have to sit and wait.
Sony is f***ing up (Part 2) The PS3 has had crappy marketing that focuses on the console itself, instead of emphasizing the games. Warhawk and Resistance are both incredible games that got little-to-no exposure outside the gamer insider publications.
The Games. The PS3 is harder to program for so a lot of the third-party developers haven't put out their best work yet. The 360 has a huge advantage in terms of game library.
The Pros:
It will work when you turn it on. The 360 has a failure rate of 33% right now. The PS3's failure rate is less than 1%. No sending in your system, no red ring, no bullsh*t. Just a system that does what its supposed to do.
The Hardware. I'm not going to get technical but to say that the PS3 is a JUGGERNAUT. It's technology is far beyond any of console and it's does more than just play games. It's a complete media hub.
The Media. All the games are released on Blu Ray discs (BD). BD holds up to 50 gigabytes, so developers can make games without having to worry about space limitations or releasing titles on multiple discs. GTA4 on 360 will be on a bunch of discs.
The Future. The PS3 has a bunch of great titles coming out this year (Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Haze, etc.) and a huge lineup announced for 2008. A lot of the games that will be PS3 exclusive, simply wouldn't be able to run on the 360. The developers are starting to learn how to exploit the systems abilities. And once they do, "next gen gaming" will pretty much be re-defined. So, while '06 and '07 belonged to the 360, 2008 will be a huge breakout year for the PS3.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: Plus, when you buy it...that's it. You don't need to shell out extra money to recharge your controls, go online, wirelessly connect, or watch next-gen DVDs. And if you feel like upgrading your hard drive, ANY 2.5" SATA drive will work. 360 only allows their own hard drives and for the price you pay for them you can get DOUBLE the capacity for the PS3. You might pay more for the PS3, but you can be sure that Sony won't try to beat you for money on every single feature.

Pros and cons of the PS3.
Pros: Free online play, blu-ray built-in, hardware backward compatibility allows almost 95% compatibility for PS1 and PS2 games (60 GB version only), built-in wifi, built-in bluetooth. Huge upcoming game library. Developers are shifting their focus towards the PS3 since they know the PS3 has alot of life left, and alot of technology behind it. Whereas with the 360 the developers are already pushing the limits of the system.
Great exclusives coming soon, some great exclusives already here (Heavenly Sword, Warhawk). Reliability, console has a less than 1% failure rate (compare that to the 360).
Cons:
Expensive price tag out of the box, relatively small current library. Online service leaves alot to be desired of, especially when compared with Xbox Live.

ps3 is WORTH THE BUY!!!!
i'll list some of the reasons
- ps3 has a built-in blu-ray player
- ps3 has much more and better exclusives, most of them cant go to xbox 360 because it cant handle that many data(DVD- 8.5gb, blu-ray 50gb)
- online is free for ps3 not like 360
- ps3 will have over 300 games released by this spring
- when developers get used to the system, the graphics will be WAY better than 360. should take them a year to get used to it
- playstation home is coming out this spring, its a virtual community where you can hang out with friends and customize your own apartment which xbox doesnt have(FREE)
- ps3 is a true HD console. xbox 360 upscale games to 1080p and ps3 DISPLAY games up to 1080p
- built in Wi-Fi
- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure
ps3: .2% hardware failure(see the decimal? less than 1%!)
- rumble returns in spring 2008
- you can upgrade your harddrive without voiding warranties with any 2.5 HDD, which xbox cant because you have to buy a xbox HDD
(they actually have the step by step on how to upgrade it on playstation.com)
those are the ones that i know right off my mind but there are much more reason than this
Prices as of today:
ps3- 80gb: $599
60gb: $499
xbox 360(premium)- $399 (if you want the accessories that ps3 comes with, that would add up to over 700 dollars)

1st - PS3 has Blu-Ray which can play movies and game developers can make longer and better games do to the Blu_ray disc capability. Regular dvd's hold 10gb of storage, HD hold 30gb, but Blu-Ray hold 50gb.
2nd - PS3 has awesome games coming out now...Heavenly Sword, Lair, Folklore, etc...
3rd - Online play is FREE
4th - I know Microsoft has had laser problems and are spending millions to have them fixed...I wouldn't even take the chance at having that happen to me.
5th - Go to PS3.com and do some reading...I am sure you will like what you see.
