The Samurai were a 'class' abolished by the Emperor during the Meiji Restoration. There are no Samurai to join the Japanese Self Defense Force.
Your question is moot.

Samurai no longer exist.
In feudal Japan there were three classes of people all with different rights and privileges.
Farmers could own land but couldn't carry weapons.
Artisans couldn't carry weapons, they could own a home but no real "land" but were not taxed on property. Trade craft people were included in this category (blacksmiths, carpenters etc.).
Samurai enjoyed the privilege of being nobility and could carry weapons, however they could not own land and were bound by the Bushido code. Their existence revolved around warfare and death.
Introduction of the Samurai or at least the "last" version of Samurai would mean the reintroduction of the Japanese caste system.
This would be an impossibility at least today.
There are people in the military everywhere who apply the principles of the Samurai.
Basically what you are asking by this question is for people to come up with reasons for Japan having a military dictatorship because that's what the Shogunate was in plain terms.
I do not think that you will be able to get too many reasons for reintroduction of the Japanese caste system or the Samurai in their society.

It was the Samurai mentality that cost Japan any chance of winning in WW2. Sword waving attacks against Machine guns bad idea!!
Blind undying loyalty to a "Living God" and the Japanese High Command did more to help the Japanese lose than their collective incompetence.
And for your information Japan has a DEFENSE FORCE and not an Army.

What Samurais? You've been watching too many martial arts flicks. The Samurai have gone the way of the Knight and the Japanese don't have an army, just a national security force.

What Samurais? Granted the concept of bushido and the cult of the samurai was resurrected in Japan in the years before WWII, generating tens of thousands of samurai wannabes, but as a class Samurai haven't existed since about 1877. A katana is no substitute for a type 89 assault rifle.
And if any were still around, why would you wan't them. Samurai were often prima donna warriors, not real soldiers.

It doesn't really matter it just makes it easier to pick them off with a gun. Their swords can reach only so far where as a bullet can stop them in their tracks from a safe distance.

I think they should because it's Japanese culture BUT Without guns they will probably only kill one or two people before getting killed themselves.

It's simply not practical...In other words, swords fail against guns. There should grammaton clerics instead.

rather than being captured by the enemy and tortured to give them information they will kill themselves before they are even captured... national security will be maintained and traitors non-existent lol
