My son started weening off the bottle around 11 1/2 months. All kids are different though. When weening, try giving a sippy cup that has a soft spout similar to the bottle.

I knew that by the time my son was a year old that I wanted him to be off a bottle. Once I had that date in mind I started to slowly take it from him at about 10 months just to see what he thought. It work out very well and once I gave him a cup he didn't want anything else!
What I am saying is to pick a date that you would like the bottle to be gone and then give yourself about 2 months to do it! Good luck!

Starting the day after my daughters 1st birthday. I took her to the store and I let her choose sippy cups. Obviously she didn't really understand but she enjoyed choosing between the colors. During the day she used the sippy cup and her before night time she had a bottle. She had a bottle every night for about 2 weeks then we went to only sippy cups. It was an easy transition. After she got used to her sippy cups (about a few weeks later) I stopped giving her the pacifier during waking hours. She only got that at nap and bedtime, also very easy. In my opinion, it's better to make the switch as early as possible b/c a toddler's will is pretty strong and determined. Fighting over it will make you both insane. Best of luck!

I thought about weening around a year and mine gave up the bottle on her own once I gave her a sip cup she wanted nothing to do with the bottle after that :) I started her with a straw cup then moved on to a regular sip 6months later. I have attached a web page with the cup we used the cupsicle straw cup and the very first one was the sip cup. Hope this helps Good luck!

I bought my son a sippy cup with soft spout by Nuk at 6mo old. My son took to it right away to our surprise and by 7mo he was off a bottle and exclusively on the sippy cup. We never forced him and I wasn't even thinking of taking the bottle away at this time but he just knew right away how to use the sippy cup so no more bottles and he was fine with it. We never "weened" him he just did it himself because he was ok without it. We didn't expect that it would be this way but it happened. At 11mo I bought him the hard spout because it was time for a big boy cup. He doe's just fine!

I started giving my baby a cup in the bath tub at about 8 months and let her do her spills in the bathtub. At about 10 months I gave her a sippy cup and it took her about a month to get used to that. Month 11-12, I just put her formula milk in her food.
She felt like a big girl and wanted to give her bottle up, she seen everyone else drinking out of a cup and wanted to also. Just one of my experiences.
Good luck!

If he's able to offer it up, now's a stable time. At a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous, maximum folk of his meals would desire to come from stable ingredients, and milk would desire to be basically a beverage. If he will take cow's milk, now's an excellent time to regulate to entire milk incredibly than formulation, besides as to a sippy cup incredibly than a bottle. maximum pediatricians assist you to understand no greater advantageous than 24 oz..of milk an afternoon, yet i became into no longer basic pressed to get my son to drink 8 or 10 oz..as quickly as we made the swap from breast milk to entire milk around 14 months. although, he eats dissimilar dairy (cheese, yogurt, etc), so it wasn't a project. stable luck!

My daughter is almost 8 months old and is currently on 3 bottles a day, she seems to be weaning herself off these though and enjoys her solids more, I still offer the milk though...but the only one she really takes now is the bedtime one
