if you hate science so much and talk down about it, why don't you stay out of hospitals and stop taking medication? If you believe so much that your god will heal you of your illnesses then why do you go to hospitals? Doesn't that go against the meaning of the bible? I thought alchemists and chemists (who are now called doctors and scientists) were doing the work of the devil? So why? Why do you go to hospitals when you don't believe such things as science?

Note: I'm not atheist or theist, I have my own religion but this has been bothering me.

Kibye, that doesn't say why you go to hospitals, and that other guy, I'm just wanting some answers, I'm not trying to sound however you said I'm trying to sound. I have seen a lot of christians on here talk down about science and how it's not true. I have also read that back when the bible was written, they have said that chemists and alchemists were doing devil work

Evolution HAS been proved, viruses evolve all the time, as do our bodies organs, our blood and our white blood cells. We evolve to fight off disease that could damage our bodies without realizing it, animals have evolved, humans themselves have evolved. If you watch the history channel and the Discovery channel, you will see programs about different human skulls through the ages and how they were once big and misshapen and now how they are.

Many religious groups use the term Christian, but most don't hate science. There is nothing wrong with doctors and hospitals. As far as saying Christians hate science because of evolution, is way off base. There are two types of evolution, micro evolution and macro evolution. Micro evolution has been proven, thats the one where animals adapt to their surrondings, we develop immunities to new viruses and stuff like that. Macro evolution has not been proven, thats the one where humans come from monkeys, or rocks, the big bang theory....all that stuff. Its not science that Christinas have a problem with but the religions that try to pass themselve off as science.

1) I don't hate science. I disagree with an (unprovable) philosophical assumption called "methodological naturalism" upon which the Fairy Tale of Evolution rests. Not only were many of the early scientists Christians, but creationists as well.
2) The belief that God WILL or MUST heal me is clearly unbiblical, otherwise no one (or at least no believer) would have ever died. I do believe, however, that God CAN heal me, but there is no imperative for Him to do so.
3) No.
4) Just what verse says that alchemists and chemists are doing the work of the devil?
4) I believe God created an orderly universe that can be studied. Furthermore, a distinction needs to be made between "operational science" (which "deals only with repeatable observable processes in the present") and "origin science" (which "helps us to make educated guesses about origins in the past").

We are not against science, if anything we complement it, it's the stupid hypotheses that we don't like... Such as, if we came from monkeys why are there unevolved monkeys now today? If they're as old as to become us, why didn't the rest evolve with us?
Yes, we believe that God *can* heal us, but He might not... God helps those who help themselves to put it bluntly. We have agency. We have the power to choose.
...Also, most of us don't have enough faith to be healed...
Satan is there for an adversary, an enemy, we must have contrast so we know which is better. We must always choose for ourselves, He cannot chose for us and still be a merciful God.
As for the alchemists and chemists...true alchemists are so-called ''magical.'' I'm not sure, but I think they found a way to harnass the power of the devil...science is not the power of the devil, it's actually the work of God, so how can it be? If a doctor started doing so-called ''magic'' instead of science, he'd probably get fired.

Another tid-bit about evolution... I am not saying that humans *haven't* evloved, it's just that we didn't evolve from monkeys...otherwise there probably wounldn't be monkeys today...

I hope I cleared your view a bit... if not, you can always email me more questions, or if you didn't understand... sunshine_ley@yahoo.com ...

Um...no going to the doctor is not going against the word of the bible. God created natural healing elements that he placed here on this earth even. God also created doctors and scientists. A profession that seeks to help heal and care for sick people is something of God anyway. If you'll read the bible...one of Jesus disciples...(Luke) was a doctor. Science is not bad....God created science. Medicine is not bad...God created medicine (all natural medicine). The thing Christians want everyone to understand is that...without God...you wouldn't even have the ability to know all of these things in the first place. The error with science and medicine is that these general fields have chosen to exclude God.....the very originator of these things.

Sigh. Quit painting all Christians with the same brush. The VAST majority of Christians don't "hate" science. We believe in science as much as anyone. Science answers "How?" Religion answers "Why?" We believe that the theory of evolution is correct, and we enjoy watching "Mythbusters."

If you must rant against someone, say "fundamentalists" or "dispensationalists" or "Left Behind moronists." Don't say "Christians."

Intresting, i'm a Christian.
But I think this question can't have a clear answer, there is no explanation. I think people do not believe so much anymore, of course, they still believe, but not so badly that they won't take medicine. I think it's also a cause of thinking about themselves. They don't want to die, they're afraid of death. They're afraid to go to hell or something i think. Most people are afraid of death. So i think that's the reason why we take medicine. But i must say, that a lot of christians take homopathic medicins, and thats natural, and god created nature, you see?

I do not hate Science. Most Christians do not hate anything.
We believe in Science. God uses doctors and nurses to heal others.
That is what we believe.

Only Christian Scientists believe the things you describe.

You are very much misinformed.

Many doctors, nurses, etc. are Christians themselves.
I think you need to do some research.

You sound like a radical and a Christian hater.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God. The scripture and Bible currently in USA are not the same!!! The physicins, chemists, (etc) are simply (I hope) following God's logic. If you think I am just saying that for this question; check my profile presently!!!

God gave us science and medicine. And miracles are happening everyday in this way. St. Luke was a doctor and Jesus didn't have a problem with that, so why should other Christians?
