They are pointless now as the technology in the cameras is far better than when these plates found fame.
The cameras now need less light to capture far clearer images, so their reflective properties, which dazzled the camera and over exposed the plate making it unreadable, are no protection.

At this time there is no way to defeat these cameras other than , no license plate. Myth Busters TV program tried everything under the sun to beat them, spray paints, etc, nothing worked well enough to beat the system. I was hoping the paint worked and was going to buy some, but, truth is, they will just take your money.

go get a new set of plates made up and get a receipt.. Then go get the rear plate made up but change 1 digit (ie w169 hjy change it to say w189 hjy) so the camera will pick up the wrong plate on the back and if you ever get pulled just say you had new plates made up show the receipt and bobs your uncle :)> it goes down as human error ;)

Apparently they work, some say they do some say they dont. I heard they're illegal, but it doesnt matter now - they're a waste of $$ as with all the hi tech equipment, unless you cover your numberplates with something non seethrough or take them off...they can pin ya!

I recently met a traffic policeman socially. When I asked him about this type of product he laughed and said they were all a waste of money, none of them even worked a little bit.

They are illegal, if you get caught with one expect a big fine.
Not to mention that they don't actually work (fine by me, if it means that the idiots drive through speed traps that just means the politicians aren't using my money to pay for their holidays).

Waste of money. Newer digital cameras don't have to flash, so there is no bright light to reflect away.

The fine for being caught with one is more than a speeding ticket !
Why do you want to speed anyway ??
30 means 30
