it's quite painful for the brief period of piercing (obviously a needle's going through a sensitive area, and then the jewellery) but afterwards i felt very little pain at all - i was very aware of them, and had a huge adrenaline rush! sexy!
afterwards - no noticeable swelling at all (although they stayed more 'erect' than usual), some aching but not much more. they did take a long while to heal, and need to be kept clean and cared for (salt water soaks etc - as per instructions of the piercer)

I have both done, tongue gets numbed if you ask for it and it just feels uncomfortable being pierced, it hurts after though because it swells up and you have to eat, I have a love hate relationship with my tongue though because it's chipped one of my teeth, I bite it when eating and that hurts, have to wear a clear one for work and I swallow the bar/ball a lot (I'm on my 5th bar and I only got it done 2 months ago) As for my nipple, **** me it hurt, I literally screamed and then couldn't stop laughing. It hurts on and off, I've had it done for 3 weeks and I love it, it is really pretty but it does hurt. I always wear a bra because I have large boobs and it bled a lot for the first few days. I recommend cleaning it a lot because I only clean mine when I have a shower and it's infected but it's still worth it. Nipples hurt a lot more than tongues though...your mum will definitely notice your tongue piercing because it swells like a *****

ok when you get them pierced the nipple on the same side you write on will BARELY hurt. and the opposite side/nipple will hurt like a hard fast pinch. it's weird but true.
it will feel raw and you won't want to move them much. the swelling depends on the person (me and my cuz got our lips pierced mine didn't swell at all and hers got HUGE). it is noticeable to a certain degree.
TIP: when you go to bed sleep on your back and wear a cami with a built in bra!!! it helps support the girls soooo much and you'll be happy too because it means LESS friction from the sheets.

yes it is very painful but in my opinion worth it. it took about two full weeks before i allowed my husband to touch them the way he wanted. i have med size breast so my joke is they are small but decorated!!! mine didn't really swell at all. i had it done twice. i took them out the 1st time to nurse my child and allowed them to grow up. the big plus is think of how sensitive you nipples are when they are erect well breast piercing enhances this, p.s. keep them clean the last thing you want is an infection there. good luck and enjoy

There are lots of nerves there. It would definitely hurt. However, there is something known as anaesthetic. Apply LOTs of it to decrease the pain.
Swelling would definitely occur, when there is an injury to any part of the body. Should be able to be countered by taking anti-biotics.
