I think it depends on what you call a mistake. To me, a mistake implies a lack of mal-intent. In that case, where someone truly didn't mean to cause harm but unintentionally did, I would say yes. However, if someone truly set out to deceive, harm, upset, etc.. then, I think they should have to suffer the consequences of their actions. If they can change the behavior, then perhaps later on, once it's been displayed consistently, they could be allowed back into the community.
Just my two cents'.

I for one am very patient with people here..
but sometimes after watching someone continually say nasty things, to Others here...well I just snap...as I admit I did last nite on here...and in responce to my answer I got very hate-filled emails from this person..
I never responded to them...but I sure thought about it..some people here just need to stop all the name calling, and maybe the rest of us could go onto the board and NOT wonder if we are gonna be attacked or not..
But in the end, I do agree with YOU...
NAME CALLING IS FOR LITTLE CHILDREN NOT ADULTS...!!

YA people should be mature and ask and answer questions each person is interested in.Accept there will be post we disagree with and don't like.Go to another question if it is not what is wanted to be answered. Not mock,*****,LOL,send e-mails,report,etc.only because the person believes different.R&S (I'm a regular) has many mockers and reporters that don't like prayer, bible verses, heaven and hell, etc.
