Sorry, even biblically there are no hard and fast lines on this subject.
We are told to flee from evil when faced with it, but on the other hand, Job never invited evil into his life at all, but God allowed it and controlled the extent of the evil.
We are told to know our enemy, but not be obsessed with him.
We are told NOT to contact Ghosts and spirits, yet if they contact us, we are told to ask if they come in the name of Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of GOD.
So, from my studies, we are to flee from evil if it presents itself, but there is no way that we can keep it from presenting itself if God wills it to happen.
We are NOT to contact spirits or Ghosts, but if contacted by them, we are to make sure they come in the name of Jesus CHrist, the only begotten son of GOD.

Part 1. Whether you "allow" it or not, negative energies affect everyone. Although some people are better able to deflect it than others.
Part 2. Do you mean people watching tv shows attract this sort of thing? No. I am not afraid that any "boogey man" is going to come out of the screen. Spirits exist and perhaps your grandmother is more sensitive to them. People like her are good at acting the psychopomp for spirits in need and they would be attracted to her because she is open to them. It is not evil of her.

Part 1: Evil exists... period. Your statement is akin to claiming that bad things only happen to bad people. This is patently untrue.
Part 2: I have several family members who believe in such nonsense. I don't really "deal" with it at all. They are welcome to believe whatever they like. When we do discuss such things, I am happy to remind them that it's all make-believe, but I don't press the issue.

1. Your beliefs strongly affect how you perceive things i.e. if you believe in ghosts then any "unexplainable" thing automatically becomes a ghost, even if there is a rational explanation. Focusing or dwelling on anything tends to produce or highlight that thing in your life, mostly by looking for it you tend to see things that verify that it is happening.
2. Personally, I would research the activities shown on "The Haunting" and show your grandmother haw they have been proven over and over to hoaxes or misinterpreted information.

ok. good question. Albert Einstein said that evil is the absence of good. my interpretation of this is, good always overcomes evil...i have never had a personal experience, but my mother, who ironically is a fundamentalist, believes she has a "third eye" or "sixth sense", and she claims she has seen dark "images" in their house. now, because she is my mother, i believe that SHE BELIEVES she has seen something. now, she will also tell your grandmother that watching such things on TV will invite the devil, evil, or whatever into not only her home, but her body. that's the fundamentalist in her.
i hope this helps with your paper.

Not all supernatural is evil or out to get you. Ach hemm, *coughs* God
Anyway, I disagree. Ever read the book of Job? He was an upright man, who Satan tested, and tried to get him to curse God to his face.
No, no family members, but a friend who was a nurse, saw a chritian die, and right before she died, she reached up, and clapsed the air. Then her hand fell down. Dead. She died the moment her hands had clapsed the air.

I am a Christian and go to a Baptist church. I believe that there does exist demons & spirits. For example,
Mark 5 (New International Version)
The Healing of a Demon-possessed Man
1They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes.[a] 2When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an evil[b] spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him any more, not even with a chain. 4For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.
6When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7He shouted at the top of his voice, "What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won't torture me!" 8For Jesus had said to him, "Come out of this man, you evil spirit!"
9Then Jesus asked him, "What is your name?"
"My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many." 10And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.
11A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12The demons begged Jesus, "Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them." 13He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.
I believe you can bless a home & make it safe, but once you allow something evil into it, that opens a door to evil. Like watching horror movies or playing with ouija boards or dolls that have molded hands like goat heads, a satanic sign. I do believe you can protect yourself against evil as long as it is God' s will.
As for family & friends, I would probably ask that they not speak about their believes around me & I will respect them to not speak how I feel on the subject. If they couldn't do that, I would probably avoid them. Pray for your grandmother.
