Remember Deut. 18:22, "If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him." If someone makes a false prophecy, and they have claimed to be a prophet of God, then they are false prophets and are not to be listened to.
Do the Witnesses claim to be the prophet of God? Yes, they do.

In 1972 the Jehovah's Witness Watchtower claimed to be the prophet of God.
IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET" -- "So does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come? These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet?...This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian Witnesses..

A JW might say that the organization is still learning. If that is so, then how can they trust what they are taught now by the Watchtower? Will what they are being taught now change also?
A true prophet of God won't err in prophesying. Only a false prophet does. The Jehovah's Witness organization, that claims to be a prophet of God, is really a false prophet. Jesus warned us by saying, "For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect -- if that were possible" (Matt. 24:24).

Bobby and MNB are so sadly mistaken that they're off the charts. Bobby seems to think that other religions have made predictions akin to those the Watch Tower has made and that is just ridiculous. If he can post quotes from mainstream Protestantism, I'd like to see them.

MNB is mistaken about what the word prophet means entirely and he is obviously a JW defending the WT to the hilt. I don't know which dictionary he is referencing, but let's try the one I still have from when I was in college--the American Heritage Dictionary, 2nd College Ed.:

PROPHET: 1. A person who speaks by divine inspiration or as the interpreter through whom the will of God is expressed. 2. A predictor; soothsayer.

While we're at it:

PROPHECY: To reveal by divine inspiration. 2. To predict.

UH, OH, folks. Guess what? These definitions fit the quotes unsilenced has nicely reprinted here.

Let the skirting of the issue and the thumbs down begin!

MNB: Must I REALLY dredge out all of the quotes from your own material, when we both already know them so well?? Let's get real, shall we?

Lamb: How do they get away with saying that the org. is still learning, and yet the WT has claimed on numerous occassions to be "Jehovah's Spirit-directed org.", "Jehovah's Mouthpiece", and the "Faithful and Discreet Slave Class dispensing the food at the proper time"???? Either they are led directly by Jehovah and, as such, always infallible, or they are not led by Jehovah, in which case, there is wide latitude for error since it is operated by fallible men like the rest of the religions today. Can't have it both ways even. OR, are they saying that Jehovah can make mistakes or, God forbid, He lies???? Even though the Bible says God cannot lie and that He remains the same throughout all eternity (yesterday, today, and tomorrow).

Jehovah's Witnesses have been a little wishy washy over the years about their claim to be prophets. They did at one time claim to be prophets, even in the same sense as Ezekiel. But more recently, they have qualified their claim to say that they are not INSPIRED prophets, which frees them from the responsibility of 100% accuracy. I have found it difficult to get a straight answer out of Jehovah's Witnesses about whether they are prophets or not, and if so, in what sense. I suspect the difficulties in the fact that they aren't sure themselves.

But let's assume for the sake of argument that they do claim to be prophets in the same sense as Ezekiel. If so, then Deuteronomy 18 certainly applies. But the problem is that none of what are usually considered "false prophecies" by Jehovah's Witnesses are really prophecies at all. Rather, they are INTERPRETATIONS of Biblical prophecies. When Jehovah's Witnesses have made predictions, they have not claimed to be prophecying or recieving any kind of revelation. Rather, they simply claim to be interpreting the Bible. So I don't think you can call them false prophets just because they have had a lot of failed predictions.

I don't understand your question? They said they were God's prophet? Okay? HOw is that different than all the other religions? Don't they all say that?
Do the Catholics believe they are wrong? Or the Methodists?
Islamic religion the men strap on a bomb and commit sucide because they think they are right and the whole world is wrong. I have listened to some pretty radical Babtists.
So they are no different if they believe they are right?

The facts are inescapable: The Watchtower Society spoke as a prophet in the name of God, and what was prophesied did NOT come true.

Rater than remain fearfully obedient to Watchtower leaders, the individual JWs who recognizes the organization as a false prophet should quit following it and start following the true Prophet, Jesus Christ.

It is not too late.

since march 14 until now almost 147,000 people became Jehovah ´s witnesses and about 600 millions hours preaching God´s kingdom in 238 countries and about 300 hundreds Kingdom halls built it.

If we belongs to the devil don´t worry we will fall but if we belongs to God almighty nobody will stop the preaching of this good news.

Here's what I'd like every single JW to ask themselves--

WHERE IS THE BIBLICAL PRECEDENT THAT GOD USED AN HUMAN ORGANIZATION TO BE GOD'S SPOKESPERSON?

Where? Where? Where?

Organizations were NOT USED! Individual prophets of God--were used. Show me ONE PLACE in scripture that has more than one prophet--a GROUP of prophets was ALWAYS FALSE!!! Look at your scriptures!!!!

(Unsilenced--you've really inspired me--I am posting this as a separate question.)

Deut 18:22 clearly states that the WT&TS are false prophets ..

They have used the word prophet countless times in there history .. have continued to be proven incorrect, and then they lie about using the phrase when confronted .. simply to repeat the act again ..

They use this simple ploy again and again.. there indoctrination techniques are so effective that the congregation never questions and continues to support the WT&TS ...

Frankly I wish I was half as effect at persuasion as they are. One day, soon there will be one court case too many, one child dead too many and the Governments of North America will be forced (thank god ) to remove their exempt status as a religion and the WT&TS will hopefully be a sad blib in the history of false cults.

Yes, God does condemn them. Revelation 20:10 'And the Devil who was misleading them was hurled into the lake of fire and sulphur, where both the beast AND THE FALSE PROPHET already were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.' As the Watchtower organisation has repeatedly made false prophesies and identified itself as a prophet then this fate awaits all those who continue to believe in the teachings of this organisation.

Of course you know that, from the beginning Jehovah's Witnesses have never claimed to be inspired. Nothing written was ever claimed to be inspired or written under Divine direction.

You continue to neglect or ignore the fact that "prophet" does not always mean what you want it to.

For example I offer the following taken from two on line sources.:

Merriam - Webster Dictionary

4 : an effective or leading spokesman for a cause, doctrine, or group

Yourdictionary.com

a spokesman for some cause, group, movement, etc.

For all your alleged contact with Jehovah's Witnesses, why do you fail to recognize that this was the sense "prophet" was used?

Edited to add,

Nomis let me make it easy for you,

It's not my fault you feel that there is only ONE definition for "prophet".

"UH, OH, folks. Guess what? These definitions fit the quotes unsilenced has nicely reprinted here."

Excuse me but exactly WHERE did Jehovah's Witnesses ever claim to be "inspired?"

Sorry but not so.
