pot roast recipe:
1. 3-4lb pot roast with some of the fat trimmed off.
2. 10 new small red potatos cut in half or quarters to fill the bottom of the crock pot.
3. 1 tsp herbs, thyme, rosemary, and salt and pepper mixed into the potatos...
4. 1 bottle of bbq sauce, 2 tbsp dijon mustard, 1 can of beef stock. mix all this together will make about 4 cups of marinate.
directions:
cut up potatos and layer bottom of crock pot, add herbs and salt and pepper to potatos and mix throughly.
place pot roast on top of potatos u can either add the pot roast thawed or frozen, it doesnt matter, and pour marinade over all till covered. cook on low 8 hours or high 4-6 hours, and add salt and pepper to pot roast and stir if u want or flip meat over half way thru cooking time if desired...
u may add zucchini, squash, or carrots to pot roast if desired...
meat will be done and fall off when tried to pick up and potatoes are really good and the marinade goes good as a gravy over meat, potatos, or noodles...

Go to the local bookstore or library and look for cookbooks dealing with the slow cooker. One of the best books to buy is the "Fix It and Forget It" series. A lot of the recipes have been submitted by people who use their crock pots for almost anything, including meatloaf, roast turkey, ham, soups, stews, chilis, several vegetable and vegetarian dishes, desserts, stuff to be canned, etc. The possibilities are endless.
The crockpot.com website someone else posted also has a conversion chart and tips on how to convert your own recipes to be cooked in the slow cooker, if you didn't want to try a new recipe for something you currently make without the slow cooker.

I agree with the poster who said pop the word into Google and you'll find loads. Personally, I love to do roasts, stews, and chicken. Beans are also nice. Soak dry beans overnight and put them into the slow cooker along with cubed ham, onion, and spices. Cover with water and place the cooker on high. Cook on high until beans begin to soften and then turn to low until done. If you're in a country where you can get cornbread, the beans are nice served either with it on the side or crumbled into a bowl with beans poured on top. If you can't get cornbread, bread and butter on the side is nice.
For roast beef, a cool idea is to place the roast in the cooker and add a jar of pepperocini peppers along with the juice. beef bullion and water mixture to cover roast and let cook. The meat falls apart and the peppers give it a spicy flavour. Delicious as a sandwich on a bun or sarnie. It also works well without the peppers if you don't care for that particular flavour.
Mince casserole can be done in your slow cooker as well. Ground beef mince (hamburger meat if you're American), carrots, onion, corn, spices. Cover in water and cook on high. Once it gets hot, add gravy granules and let cook until done. Serve over mashed potatoes.
Finally, chicken is really nice--just put the whole (cleaned) chicken in and cover with water. You'll need to skim off fat and skin bits; the strained liquid makes a nice broth base for gravy or soup. The chicked debones beautifully and is moister than a traditionally cooked chicken.

My favorite is roast. Get a nice sized roast of your choice. Mix 2 normal (1 large) can of cream of mushroom soup, 2 packets of dry onion soup mix, 2 tablespoons of steak sauce, 2 tablespoons warstershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of basil. Place the roast in the crock pot and pour the mixture over the top. Cook for around 6 hours. The sauce makes a wonderful gravy for over the meat and mashed potatoes.

i own a crock pot and there are many things that can be cooked in it.
Chili
i brown my groundbeef and then drain it. then i place everything i am putting in the chili in the crockpot. even the dry beans. if you put it on late at night before you go to sleep, it will be done when you arise. now you have lunch to take with you and dinner as well. you can even leave it on all day and it will be hot and ready when you return.
soups
i place everything in the crockpot regardless if it is frozen or not. i clean my meat and season it. then i place everything in the crockpot, turn it on and leave for the day. when i return my dinner is done. this is excellent for the winter. you can have hot soup to take with you to work.
beans
i throw everything in the crockpot and turn it on. basically all of the recipies work this way. chicken and turkey is the only meat that does not have to be cooked before placing it in the crockpot.
you can do many things in the crockpot. i love this thing. its the best invention yet.

Go onto the website www.crockpot.com and they have lots of recipes for you! I use my crockpot every single week- its so easy! Just put in some veggies on the bottom, add your meat- I cook a whole chicken in there, stew meat, whatever! Then add just a bit of water, put the lid on and leave it! Its great because your dinner is being made and you don't even have to be there! But like I said, for specific recipes, go on that website. Good luck!
