Honey, I know EXACTLY what you mean! They leave their buggy in the middle of the aisle to read the ingredients on a ketchup bottle for 30 minutes and then look at you like you're crazy when you say "excuse me". I've finally gotten to the point that I don't care if I'm graceful about it or not. I just move their buggy out of the way and keep walking. One of these days they'll learn! Sometimes I seriously think grocery stores should have lanes and traffic lights.

If you can make eye contact with the person and say "excuse me" they usually move, but I've found that it's normally the people that are totally engrossed in reading labels that are the ones that park their carts in the middle of the isle and are oblivious to what is happening around them. I've found no way to gracefully get their attention, so I usually wind up helping them block the isle. It's frustrating and hopefully some of the isle blockers will read your question and think about it the next time they go shopping.

I hear you! That drives me nuts too. I just think people get in the zone when they're shopping and don't even think for a minute about where their cart is. I've just started saying excuse me in a loud, but not obnoxious way. If they don't respond by moving their cart (and most people even apologize), then I just move the cart for them. If they were to say anything to me, I'd explain that I tried to get their attention.

If the person is nearby, say politely "Excuse me" and chances are they will apologize and move their cart. If you can't get through and no one appears to be there, simply move the cart to one side and continue with your shopping.

People do seem to be in their own little worlds when shopping these days, but I don't personally think it's worth getting upset about.

It's too bad that people just don't care about anyone else anymore, but there is a way "around" the cart.

I have reached ahead slowly, as if not to disturb them, and start moving the cart myself. When they notice this, they are always apologetic and move it the rest of the way out of the aisle. This will suggest to them that they are taking too much space in the aisle and cure one more person of self-absorption.

Start moving it carefully while you say "excuse me, I'm just going to shift this and slide by." Smile.
They will smile and apologize & you'll both have a nice feeling.
Don't move it without speaking because that's just when the person will step back & get her heel run over by her own cart!

Even if there were a graceful way to move a cart, the people who are using the cart would still be jackasses about it and make out like you were killing their infant or something. Nobody gives a crap about other people anymore. I just ask them kindly to move, and if they don't, I make sure to get in their way and refuse to move at the next convenient minute.

People who r usually this rude and selfish are people who don't realize they are not the only one shopping in the store, the universe revolves only around them in their mind, whether busy or not, self-respect should be displayed at all times in the form of consideration for others, I usually try to get their attention by saying"xcuse me I need to get passed u, but, if that doesn't work, I move the cart out of my way and proceed, since they didn't display any consideration for others, no consideration is given in return of their annoying behavior"

Just move it gracefully to the side if it is unattended.... if not say 'Excuse me..." In an increasingly assertive tone until they get the picture.

They drive a grocery cart the same way they drive a car,

no respect
no courtesy
no manners what-so-ever

TYPICAL........

oh, I forgot, that's right, they own it all........so PARDON me!

Know what I do, I push their cart out of my way, without saying a word.... I know how to be rude as hell in return.
"do unto others, as you would have them do unto you"
