No the faithful would just adapt to it and pretend it was always part of their beliefs.

No, I think the introduction of an alien culture would necessarily preciptate the adaptation of an Earthly religion (or religions) encompassing the alien systems as Earthlings understand them. Sort of like the Valentine Michael Smith effect if you've read Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein. Of course, if you're going to blindly follow under an alien prophet or leader, make sure they don't have a holy text entitled "To Serve Man."

If they had really big laser guns and hated religious folks like many folks here on R&S...I'm sure they would run around zappin' us out of exsistance and then move on to the next planet...freeing the universe of deity delusioned species from one galexy to the next. They'd prolly let Hindu's and Buddhists live though cuz them there polytheists might come in handy later on when the aliens set themselves up as gods. Wow..I hope we never find an alien race...that's just too scary. Pardon me while I sit here anxiously glancing from side to side while chewing nerviously on my fingernails...oh, yeah...better hold my breath too. Ya see, now I'm all worried and stuff...how will I ever sleep...??? LOL. Love in Christ, ~J~

Actually you might think this is whacked but I believe that is going to be one of the theories that the Anti-Christ will push during the Tribulation after the Rapture. Telling those that are Left Behind that their loved ones that have vanished have been abducted by Aliens. Telling them that the one of the purposes of taking the mark of the beast will be for tracking so that the "aliens" won't take them too. Like I said call me whacked, but hey anyone that doesn't believe in Christianity already thinks I'm whacked anyway. Great question.....

No Way!!! Religion is like the common cold.
It evoles. I Mean look at how religion has encorporated science and in doing so tried to invalidate science.
I am afraid to say in some bent way religion would fit aliens in somehow or they would be lost. cant have that ,can we!

I agree, hopefully. But most likely religion would adapt somehow to incorporate the aliens. Religion would probably still be around in a diminished capacity, just like today's Wiccans or Zoroastrians, but doomed to obscurity.

Shortly, some will find them but they will be fallen angels and demons and even God's angels will be seen. There is war in the heavens at this very moment between God's angels and Satan's angels. For this reason many believe that we see UFO's ascending and descending and we don't even know what we are seeing. Elijah saw them and he called them chariots of fire or wheels within wheels. All of this is in the Holy Bible because God wanted us to know so we would not be confused. Read the Bible.

well there is a theroy out there among some religious groups (allthough i dont know which ones) that state that god created the earth and everything on earth and instead of resting on the seventh day he bounced and went somewhere else. so they would just say, " oh god musthave went somewhere and created these little green men." or you could simply state that god created the universe and everything in it.. and in that case when it describes what god did on the 7 days that he created, then they missed a few things :)

I doubt it.
They'd either try and convert the aliens or destroy them for being satanic. Of course a few groups would say they were sent by god...
The way humanity is going, I hope we encounter a race with superior technology - because if we can't overcome such primitive superstitions and grow up, we deserve to be wiped out.
*I just thought - the worst thing about that situation would be knowing that as the aliens culled us, there would be people saying it was a judgement from God and it was all happening because we were sinners... So sad. PLEASE ALIENS - TAKE ME WITH YOU - I'M NOT LIKE THEM!'*

no it would not. Even if that alien race was more advanced it would not mean that people would stop beliveing in what they belive in. I just hope that they day does not come along due to all the fighting that it would bring.

It would depend on their belief system, if they had one. It may also be that sentient life had not evolved or that its social/cultural development was "alien" to ours.
It is something to look forward to and it certainly will have an impact on our world.
