What about praying to dead people asking them to pray for you? That's kinda bizarre, too. Or, eating the flesh of God, literally transfigured right there in mass. It just looks like a wafer. It's really flesh. And the alcohol? That's God's blood. You'll never grow old and you'll never die but you must feed.

Catholicism has been mixed with a lot of other religions and what not since forever. Some people even believe that Catholics are not Christians. If they are or aren't it's not for me to say because I don't know nor do I even have an opinion on it. As far as palmistry goes ... as best as I can tell they still frown upon it as a whole, but there are some who say that it is okay for medical purposes. These are the opinions and practices of only some people out of billions of Catholics worldwide. To get an example of some of the things that they have pulled from other religions here is a religious based parody from one religion dissecting the whole Catholic faith. When it all comes down to it it's really about what you believe and what works for you. I don't believe that what happens to you when you die is something that you can ultimately decide. Everyone has "sin" no matter how devout they are and how good they try to be. It's called being human. But if it makes you personally feel better by believing something then that is your business ... no matter what you believe (yes ... even palmistry). That's why religions are as diverse as ethnicity and cultures. I think faith as a whole is all encompassing. As far as bragging goes ... who hasn't been guilty of that? Hello ... tele-evangelists which come from all walks of faith and yet they are acceptable? While I do believe in miracles I can not concieve that you can just call them to yourself or someone else at will. I mean seriously. I hope this hasn't upset you or made you cross as was not my intention. These are merely my opinions and nothing else. I hope you have a splendid day and come to some sort of conclusion for your question whether this has helped or not.

I don't know about the Catholic Church... But as what the Bible said about palm readings and the likes in Deuteronomy 18:10 -12, "There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancers. For all this things are abomination unto the Lord: and because of this abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee."...
I really don't know why the Roman Catholics allow this things... have you read in the Bible about how Jesus Christ got mad when this kind of people were doing their things inside the temple?...

I have never experienced any such thing as what you describe when attending Mass myself, but I guess in poverty-stricken countries, superstitious practices are common due sociological and cultural beliefs. I would imagine that this is the reason for including such uncommon practices into their religious belief system. Perhaps you should visit these other countries where you have witnessed such behavior and ask the practitioners themselves the reason behind their actions.
Even taking this into consideration, I don’t quite understand why you feel the need to insult another person’s belief (calling it witchcraft) and make the call as to whether or not said belief can or cannot be ruled out as Christian dogma. Sad that you think you are qualified to make such judgments.

For the most part the things you mention have no attachment to the Catholic Church. They are associated with customs and ancient beliefs in the culture of the land. Customs and cultures are found in every land... like Christmas trees, mistletoe, Halloween, and exchanging gifts on Christmas Eve.. This is not in the bible, not intrinsic to Christianity but still embraced by the community.

The church has alway`s condemned these practices along with witchcraft, but in some remote areas of the world the local superstitious practices seem to be retained perhaps due to deep ancestral connections, etc.
It is not always easy to rid peoples minds of these things but the church tries to take a sensible approach and educate people to come away from such things, people being what they are it does not always work, these same problems are experienced by other Christian denominations too as a Pastor friend was telling me some time ago.

Protestants are Catholics that are really pissed with the church. Ever read the book of revelations? Who do you think the harlots of the Whore of Babylon are? God has a beef against humanity beginning with the christian church. Why do you think so many christians are killed every year? Not because of their faith, but because they are STUPID! They go around, just like you, pointing at everyone who does not believe what they do. The church is divided because christians are stupid and they don't believe what they tell everyone else. Otherwise there would not be a divided church.

You are either lying about what you've seen, or mistook what you saw for what amounts to Divination.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches:
2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.
2138 Superstition is a departure from the worship that we give to the true God. It is manifested in idolatry, as well as in various forms of divination and magic.
2117 All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one's service and have a supernatural power over others - even if this were for the sake of restoring their health - are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. These practices are even more to be condemned when accompanied by the intention of harming someone, or when they have recourse to the intervention of demons. Wearing charms is also reprehensible. Spiritism often implies divination or magical practices; the Church for her part warns the faithful against it. Recourse to so-called traditional cures does not justify either the invocation of evil powers or the exploitation of another's credulity.
Given this Doctrine, I find it impossible to believe your claim.

well most catholics are not that familiar with their doctrine even the basic one, which should be the first priority of the church. That is why catholic beliefs are mixed with the chinese belief and pagan beliefs. they seldom go to church, they only go to church if there is a special reason or there is a coming occation and unfortunately sometimes there are some who goes to church only as a part of their courtship with the one they adore. and lastly there are no sanction for the wrong doing of its church member. church officer dont impose diciplinary actions against those who commit mistakes

In Jamaca it's even worse for the Catholic church. Many Catholics their practice voodoo. The church has a tolerance for local customs but draws the line with dogma, which should apply to all Catholics no matter where they are.
