At times, we cannot afford to forgive. We lose what we are owed by foregoing what is due to us.

I know i cannot afford not to forgive. It eats me up inside. The resentment is like drinking rat poison whilst expecting the rat to die. It just doesn't make any sense. It's toxic and I need to get rid of it/let it go...asap.

No we cannot. When we hold grudges we only hurt ourselves. There is freedom in forgiveness. After all we are all human and we all make mistakes....sometimes big ones...but there are lessons to be learned in our mistakes so we MUST forgive.

We must totally forgive, for our own sake. And it helps to understand. After all, we are all humans.
But that said, let me make it perfectly clear. That does not mean patting the culprit on the back and saying: it's ok.
You see, that would not good for him.

Yes. If forgiving certain people in certain conditions makes you feel worse than NOT forgiving them.

there are a lot of things that as a human being I would say is unforgivable, however as a christian I have to admit that Christ forgave me my sins and died for me so I have to forgive even when I don't want to and that is so hard!
