The above question is one that is constantly asked on this site. Here is my theory:

If God gaves us scientific evidence for his existence, we would have no choice but to follow him. That would take away free will and life is supposed to be a test.

Also, there is evidence for his existence. Just look all around you and think of how complex life is. Also, we have the Bible. Miracles happen all the time. My uncle had cancer and the doctors thought he had no chance to recover but he had faith and was able to get past it. There is evidence.

What are your thoughts?

I believe in God.

But for me, it's not about trying to explain the impossible or trying to understand something that is beyond the ability of science to explain.

Science has a hard enough job in trying to explain the Universe we live in now.

We've been given a chance at life and it's up to *us* (as an individual/society) to make the best of it.

John this is the second time that you have posted this. I'll give the same reason.

First there is the well documented placebo effect.

Secondly, your uncle was treated with drugs. Drugs work in different ways according to your genetic structure. For instance all drugs that go through testing now generally require a genetic sample from subjects to see if their genetic structure influences drug absorption, distribution and efficacy.
For example some people respond well to drugs where other people don't. The most likely thing that happened is that the drugs given to your uncle worked better in him than in other people. If 1 in 100 people survive Lung Cancer are you telling me they do it because they are Christian? That is rubbish.

Doctors are trained to give bad news and not to give false hope.

Some people simply respond to treatment!

Also you say we don't need evidence because that would mean we would have no choice but to follow but then you present your "evidence". Are you confused? Do we no longer have free will because of your uncle's story? There is a certain amount of illogical thought going on there.

I agree with you. I like how you put it so perfectly. Look around if you want evidence that God exists! My mom always said this. There are also many of the places in the Bible that they have dug up and found that they did exist, and there are books that they found that mention many of the facts that are recorded in the Bible. I have had many miracles also. I think it would take more faith to not believe than to believe.

Look no farther , your body itself is the greatest evidence of God. Have you come across any scientist who could explain why we have all parts of our body in its right place ?Why is the heart below the head but above all the lungs and other internal organs ? Why we have two eyes when we could see with one ? Why we have two kidneys, two lungs , big liver when we could function with one of each ? Who has the prior knowledge that men would abuse our own body thats why , He puts two of each , so if we bungle taking care of one , we could still use the other one ?

Could any one explain "Which is first egg or the chicken ?"

When all could not be explained by even the most intelligent person on earth ... then you have the evidence of God's work and the existence of God.

Persons today who want scientific evidence of God's existence are no different from those in Jesus' day who wanted a "sign". (Matthew 12:38-39) They had definitve evidence of God's existence, and that Jesus was the foretold Messiah. Still they did not believe.
Although Jesus is not walking the earth performing miracles, it really would not matter to those who do not want to believe if he was. It is thier heart condition that keeps them from believing, not the lack of evidence. (Matthew 16:1-4)

I believe His fingerprint is on every piece of accurate scientific evidence that we know.

No man is able to stand before God and say that he turned away from God because God did not give any light. All men have had the revelation of God; therefore, all men are accountable to Him.

The argument from cause and effect is one logical argument for the existence of God. As everything that exists must have an adequate cause, so an all-powerful and intelligent God is an adequate cause to explain the universe. The Scripture identifies that "cause" as the creative power of God.

Christians should live their lives accountable to God for their attitudes and actions.

God is far above having to be proven by science. i think god proves science long before humans ever catch up.if you read the Bible you will find science in it. Genesis2:1 says that thus the heavens and earth were finished and all the host of them. that is the first law of thermo dynamics.in the book of Job 38:35 canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, here we are? that's God talking about the radio waves or telephone. you know it took humans a long time to figure out that you could use electricity to send words a long distance. in the Book of Amos it talks about the water cycle how water evaporates from the ocean into the sky then falls back down to earth as rain.Amos9:6 God calls for the water of the sea, he pours them out over the land. the Bible is full of science its just that we are finally catching up so that we understand it.

Your 'evidence from presumption' is flawed.

I 'cured' myself by my (at the time Pagan) 'faith' when I had a disabling disease that was characterised by occasional remission (HLA-B27 spondylitis). It took me five years of hard faith in my ability to cure myself. This included daily meditation to help me through the pain and negativity/hopelessness ( I was told I would probably never walk again) and a militantly pure diet.

Same thing with cancer, it too is characterised by remission. We can affect our own health by making changes in the way we think and live. There is no proof that is anything to do with a 'god' though. It's an effect recognized and used in the medicine and healthcare called 'the placebo effect'.

If faith 'magically' cured amputees, then I would be more likely to believe that there might be something to the 'supernatural/religious' claims.

Your 'complexity' argument for creationism is nothing more than argument from incredulity. It certainly isn't evidence.

The fact you claim it to be says more about your lack of rigour when demanding that 'evidence'. Thankfully, (I hope) you aren't a judge sending people to jail on that strength of 'evidence'...

So now what?

When I look around, I only see evidence that there is no God. He will not show evidence because He does not exist. Only we can find evidence - that there is no God.

Scientific evidence?? God created science. All the proofs ever done are continually more proof of a higher power.
