MOS = Military Occupational Specialty.
The code refers to the individual's particular specialty, whether it be infantryman, mechanic, military policeman or others. Air Force has a similar code called the Air Force Specialty Code which denotes the particular career field of the airman.
Numbers on military vehicles essentially identify individual vehicles and are on the order of a military serial number.
Not sure which numbers you are referring to, but large numbers might indicate a radio call sign.
