and had bought the painkiller on prescription, when I turned up for my appointment at the doctors, there was a locum there who said she couldn't do it because she never had the relevant paper work! My GP is never there, theres always different locums standing in for him, I asked the receptionist what I should do, and she said she didn't know!

I am so frustrated, would I be able to ask a doctor at a different practice to do the injection?

Unless the previous physician's notes regarding all diagnosis and treatment efforts were missing, I don't know why anyone could not do the treatment. However, as steroid injections are not first line therapy for plantar fasciitis I could see some reservation if there were absolutely no notes available. Though... If I was working in a clinic where a patient was scheduled and a patient arrived with a prescription from the standing physician for the treatment, I think I would proceed.

I find it strange that she didn't.

However, maybe the locum had never performed a steroid injection for plantar fasciitis before and was not completely familiar with the anatomy and procedure. Then using the excuse that she didn't have the paperwork let her bow out and you ended up rescheduling with your own doctor.

Something to consider. I know most of my patients go to podiatrist for foot care at my request.

Make a complaint to the Health Authority! Your GP sounds like a washout!

I doubt that you would find another doctor who would do the injection unless you were a regular patient. Try finding a new doctor. Talk to your friends, neighbors, co-workers to get recommendations. And try writing a letter directly to your doctor addressing your concerns and let him know you're looking for another doctor....maybe he doesn't realize how his patients feel about how often he is gone....

The medical helpline should be able to help! Failing that, if your in pain, go along to your local A&E and insist on some help!
Best of luck!!

I would definatley call your health insurance - the number on your card.
Wow - that's totally bogus that they did that to you!!!
Try asking some friends about their doctors and shopping around for a new one.
Good Luck!
