Hi. On MS Excel, I want to make the gridlines as they were at the beginning?

After having messed around with the worksheet (colours, etc) the gridlines disappear. I can then put them back by going to the border tab on format cells. However, when this is done, the gridlines are black, and not the feint grey colour that you have when starting work on an Excel worksheet, and this is what I want. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

Excel cells have no fill colour by default. When you make a block of cells' fill colour anything other than "No fill", the grid lines disappear.

Highlight the block where you want the grid lines back and set the fill colour to "No fill". Your grid lines will reappear without having to border things.

If you want the fill colour to be something other that "No fill", then you have to put the borders in explicitly.

If I'm reading your question right, you are not looking for borders or fill, just the regular grid lines.

If so, you'll need to go into the top menu, [tools] [options]

You'll see a tab called [view]. Click on this.

On this screen, on the left side towards the bottom is a check box for [gridlines]. Make sure this is checked on. This will bring back the view gridlines (will not show up in printing unless you also change the page set up to print gridlines.)
