No it's not in the Eu and you can bring back one carton of 200 cigarettes per person and i learnt this the hard way by getting stopped at customs in august this year after a wicked 2 week holiday, i had 2 cartons of brand name cigs, Bensons/superkings and 3 cartons of turkish cigs, stupid i know but at 30 lira a carton i found it hard not to.
Luckily as the other 3 cartons were cheap turkish fags i was allowed to keep them, just be warned you can and probably get a tug when you land back here!

No, Turkey is not in the EU yet. They will not be until they get their human rights record sorted and come to some arrangement with Greece over Cyprus.

To the person who made the comment about religion in politics - Turkey is a secular state - but it is a muslim country. Religion was made separate from the running of the state by Mustafa Kemal (Attaturk) who decided that the country would be better off being more Westernised. He gave equal rights to women, education for all, banned the Fez and the more extreme Muslim sects and the Burka. Its a great country.

Nope, they aren't in the EU yet. It looks like they're on their way though since some people have finally started admitting to their huge genocide. They still have the death penalty though, so that's something else they'll need to fix before getting in. Could be awhile.

No, and I'm sorry to say it, it most probably isn't a popular thing to say, but I hope they'll never be. At least until they learn to respect Human Rights and how to separate religion from government.
