i know 1200 is the bare minimum so if i go under that isnt that being malnourished since im not giving my body the calories it needs for basic function?

I will go ahead and let you know that your base line clorie burn for just being alive is probably around 1300 calories per day (depending on age, sex, weight)

But that aside. No. 1500 calories (or round about there) is not going to make you malnourished. As long as you eat 1500 calories of good healthy food. 1500 calories is 3-400 for breatfast, 100 for a midmorning snack, 3-400 for lunch, 100 for a mid afternoon snack and then 4-500 for dinner. As an example. You just have to eat with a purpose, every bite should have the intention of providing your body with something it needs. Anything else is junk food.
