Pagans worshiped false (demon) Gods, not the one and only true God - Jehovah. And I, for one, do not wish to be associated with anything that is involved with demons.

Pagans also ate blood, something condemned in the Bible.

If you look into the background of how "saints" came to be, you will find that they have all come from pagan customs.

Did you know that the pagans used the symbol of the cross long before Jesus walked on the earth?

These are just a few of the facts about pagans, there are many more. These are a few of the reasons we don't want anything to do with Pagan customs.

Exodus 32:4-10. word that the Israelites observed an Egyptian non secular prepare yet gave it a clean call, “a pageant to Jehovah.” yet Jehovah critically punished them for this. right this moment we see in common terms twentieth-century practices linked with vacations. some could seem innocuous. yet Jehovah spoke of firsthand the pagan non secular practices from which those originated. shouldn't his view be what concerns to us? assume a crowd come to a gentleman’s residing house asserting they're there to celebrate his birthday. He would not want the party of birthdays. He would not prefer to make certain human beings overeat or get decrease than the impression of alcohol or work together in loose habit. yet a number of them do all those issues, and that they create provides for each individual there different than him! On suitable of all that, they %. the birthday of one of the guy’s enemies because of the fact the date for the party. How might the guy experience? might you prefer to be a celebration to it? it extremely is precisely what's being achieved via Christmas celebrations. very almost all vacations are (pagan or nationalistic). there is one trip that each you may also celebrate, and you realize what it extremely is? it is the Memorial of Jesus dying. .

You don't have to be one of JW's to condemn pagan practices and customs. There are other "Christian" religions who also find these things against God's word. I will assume you know the history of celebrations and "holidays" such as Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc.....So you must know that they are a direct result of incorporating clearly pagan practices and mixing and mingling them with what we know came from the Catholic Church. So, there is an explanation as to how they came about. As a child, didn't you ever wonder "What does Santa Clause have to do with Jesus` birth?" or "What does the Easter bunny have to do with Jesus` death?" I sure did. And I was never given a truthful answer until I researched it myself. And the answer is/was that they have NOTHING to do with eachother! So when you actually learn that these customs and practices were considered unacceptable and offensive to God all the way back to the days that Jesus walked the earth, then why would they ever have become acceptable here and now in our time? Wrong is wrong is wrong is wrong is wrong...........A few scriptures for you to consider might be: Eph. 5:10,11 "Keep on making sure of what is acceptable to the Lord; and quit sharing with them in the unfruitful works that belong to the darkness, but, rather, even be reproving them." 2 Cor. 6:14-18: "What fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Be'lial? Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever? And what agreement does God's temple have with idols?...."Therefore get out from among them, and seperate yourselves" says Jehovah, "and quit touching the unclean thing" We can all make the usual excuses that, Oh the holidays are harmless, and they are there for kids, blah blah blah....(and leave it to Satan to make something SEEM harmless and innocent) but I'm sorry, I find it highly offensive and disrespectful to know that not only was Jesus NOT born on Dec. 25, but rather a pagan/heathen god named Mithra's WAS!!! Or the Babylonian practice of worshipping Astarte or Ishtar (aka EASTER). No thank you, I could never in good conscience do that.

1 Cor 10:21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons.

Isa 2:6 You have abandoned your people,
the house of Jacob.
They are full of superstitions from the East;
they practice divination like the Philistines
and clasp hands with pagans.

Halloween originated under the name of Samhain as a Pagan festival among the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century.

Jehovah's Witnesses dislike any custom that does not give Glory to Jehovah God.

Pagan Customs are just that, events that give glory to oneself or another God besides our Creator.

Paganism officially started in Eden when the devil rejected God as his authority and had the first couple to do the same.

If you are involved with pagan customs, then you are "partaking of the table of the demons" as Paul worded it.

Well, actually, they do! They just love to look for pagan customs, identifying as many as possible that they say are being practiced by Christians (only, they don't believe anybody not condemning paganism as vocally as they do could possibly be a Christian). To them, a paganistic custom carried over into the Christian faith and absorbed by it is even more hideous than if it had remained merely pagan. They thus condemn the whole of 'Christendom' en masse because it tolerates adapted Easter and Christmas ideas.

They certainly have legitimate reason to be wary of pagan customs, for the Bible warns God's people to avoid being spiritually contaminated. Time and again Israel fell from grace due to being influenced by the pagans around them, so I wouldn't knock JWs for this, even if they are not consistent (for they do use wedding rings and pagan gods' names for the days of the week etc). What is distasteful, however, is how they go on about others' pagan 'contamination' because it makes them feel good - they shine by comparison, they think. This is proof that Jehovah is pleased with them (and only them). Well, paganism may be wrong, but pride is even worse and the Bible has more condemnation for the proud than for pagans, especially when paganism has been effectively neutralised, if not sanctified.

Sorry that just doesn't make sense.

WHICH/What Pagan traditions are you referring to? I'm only aware of the "Old" Traditions that Moses tossed a hissy fit & had to get a 2nd copy of the tablets.

IF you're referring to the Indigenous Old World Spirituality - then there's a big problem as there was no universal "Pan Pagan" Culture. each area had it's own traditions.

Jehovah's Wittiness are the only religion that follows the word of god as written in the bible. They are apart from other religions because of their deep understanding of the bible & commitment to study, so they don't fall into the trap of following false man made doctrines such as hell , trinity and so on.
There are many scriptures in the bible warning to stay away from pagan customs.
Matthew 7:13 & 14 warns about finding the right path.
