I`m skinny and been ridiculed all my life, never bothered me. I am currently trying to quit smoking, with some degree of success. I know a very fat person who will claim to be on a calorie controlled diet but proceed to eat two family size bags of crisps. At least I`ve identified my problem and doing something about it. A lot of fat people are in denial and fooling themselves, insulting them might just wake a few up.
An idea I had, before boarding an aircraft everybody should be publicly weighed and charged for excess weight, airlines do the same with baggage.

I do agree it has become more acceptable to be over weight and therefore harmful to the individual, but Im fairly certain these persons are aware of the implications to their health and so dont need it shoved in their faces..

Not all weight gain is due to over eating either! Someone could have a medical condition..

Perhaps a health tax or something could be paid by those who are mindfully increasing their chances of needing the NHS, such as smokers, obese persons, heavy drinkers etc.. Maybe then they may re think their idea's...Or maybe not...

No one should be ridiculing anyone.

People that are overweight will never lose weight through being ridiculed. They will NOT respond well to bullying tactics, they will either end up with an eating disorder or just eat even more to comfort themselves.

I don't think you really understand the psychology behind overreating and I don't think you are very emotionally mature. If you truly want to help, then become a personal trainer and encourage people to lose weight healthily with support and encouragement.

But if you just want to ridicule overweight people, then I believe you are just using this as an excuse to act badly beause of your own insecurities. Bullying in ANY circumstances is unnacceptable, so please just remember that.

No. That would make some people worse, I think if people are overweight it is they and they alone that can help themselves, its like anything, quitting smoking, stopping drinking, you have to really want to do it. The help is there you just need to want to get up and find it. I love working out but for some people it fills them with dread, its just about finding what is right for that person and them having the support they need, not someone bullying them. And for the record skinny does not = healthy - just because someone is thin it does not mean they are fit!

No, I get ridiculed for being 'skinny' and it seriously bugs me, so i would never ridicule a person based on size. Stupidity yes, but not size

No, because a lot of clinically obese people over-eat because they have low self-esteem, it's a vicious circle. To ridicule them would only make them eat more and could even lead to suicide. And those who don't have low self-esteem would just laugh at you and make a rude comment in return, so ......nothing achieved!

you got to be one insecure individual to make other ppl feel bad, most fat ppl dont even care what ppl think, if they did, wouldnt everyone be skinny and skinny doesnt always mean a better human being, you could be one miserable skinny ***** in her bedroom doing nothing while a bigger person has everything you ever wanted in your life, I guess being skinny wasnt on top of their priority list.

Absolutely not. We could encourage them to lose weight and help them do so, but ridiculing them will only make it a more horrible situation for them to be in.
