“Wow I agree with you’’
Many people I know, in fact a lot of people I know disagree with the death penalty and
There are many others who approve of it but now you are no different from Americas it looks like you became American you have a lot ignorance what kind of christen is that? You are stereotyping everyone as the same. It is wrong when you said You Americans think you are the most enlightened and developed of all nations.
You are judging that is unchristian and wrong.

The state/society is a different entity from an individual. There must be laws for social order, or there will be anarchy. Few have the morals to handle that kind of freedom and responsibility. If a society were based on justice (imagine what that implies!) -- and none of today's societies have the capacity to be -- there would be little need for a death penalty. In the rare instance where the death penalty might be appropriate, the perpetrator of such an act might feel such remorse, knowing that no restitution is possible, and voluntarily give up life. Receiving justice in today's world, a world virtually incapable of understanding the concept, is however a rarity. Considering the corruption that exists in most places, I am against the death penalty.

It is a tradition set up by the Christian founding fathers of this great nation of the USA. The very first few criminals to be put to death in this country were WITCHES!!! So God took the land from the Indians and gave it to the God fearing Christian pale faces...
Between February 1692 and May 1693, over 150 people were arrested and imprisoned, with even more accused who were not formally pursued by the authorities. The two courts convicted 29 people of the capital felony of witchcraft, 19 of whom (14 women, 5 men) were executed by hanging. In addition, Giles Corey was pressed to death for refusing to enter a plea. In addition to those executed, at least 5 more died in prison.
God the Father was immensely pleasurised watching the hanging of all them witches! When we say that this nation was founded on Biblical Christian principles, we mean it...!!! "Not in vain Caesar carries a sword" They can kill anybody even Hugo Chavez with God's approval. The hanging of the witches of Salem was quite a lesson for the rest of the wannabe witches...!!! Your good Christian neighbor could turn you in.
BTW, Jesus never meant what he said... everything that he said needs to be interpreted!

This is a very touchy subject. I have often said lock them up for life maybe they will have the chance to repent. However I feel that if a man will be saved he will be saved if he is put to death or not. Maybe more so if he knows he is going to die. That does not justify anything.
Two scriptures come to mind.
One is about a man who was being executed.
Luke 23:40-41
40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
He said "we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds"
1 Timothy 1:8&9
8But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

The Lord also said vengence is mine. God will take care of those who do wrong. It is not our place. The commandments say not to kill. How plain is that. You can not be a Christian and believe in the Holy Bible and also believe in the death penalty.

I believe in the resurrected Saviour, Jesus Christ the Messiah, who is last time I checked, the giver of Life. Your question is more a political question I think, so I do not believe in Governments having laws and policies to take anothers life.

I personally don't think the death penalty is the correct way to deal with a person with a evil streak going straight through their hearts. I do, however, believe that people should be shipped to a deserted island and given all the things they need to survive. (wood, nails, seeds tp grow their own food, animals, etc so on.) Live free or die! Let them survive or kill each other. But keep them away from innocent people.

ECK! Well if some psycho is comin at me with a butcher knife, I'll turn HIS cheek until his neck snaps, and not my own. Instant justice.
Outside that, I think there are other solutions to the death penalty...like...put em on an excercise bike hooked up to a generator and shoot him full of crystal meth.
Killing a killer doesnt bring someone's loved one's back. We're not in the Dark Ages anymore.

As the Giver of Life, God, Himself, has decreed that some should die for their actions.
Exodus 21:12 He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
Exodus 21:16 And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
Exodus 22:19 Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
Leviticus 24:17 And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.
etc, etc

hmm well this is a tricky one but ultimately whether or not you are a 'true' christain is between you and God.. whether you believe in the death penalty or not as a christian is somewhat irrelevant... so in answering you question of " how can you be Christian and agree with the death penalty?" well theres no REAL answer because who are we to judge whether or not a christian should believe in the death penalty or not.
.. wow... that made sense in my head but typed sounds a little strange LOL hope you understand
