Most of the answers appear to start with “They” or “Most” generalisations are okay but they don’t work for everyone, if you want a general answer then I’d say “The fatter you get, the more blind you become”.

Though Fast food and obese people is one the oldest myths, I was obese and I had never touched fast food.

I ate healthly at meal times, 'night-time snacks' were the ruin of me.

As I said, I was obese, I have a 5ft2 frame and at my heaviest I was 18 stone (at least that I know), dress size would be 28UK. I am now 9 stone and a half, dress size 14.

Was I aware that I was obese? To some degree, I was told so, but words can go through one ear and out the other, at the time I was what people would call in a state of depression, would I call it that? No, not really, just a dark period. I didn’t see the ‘whole’ picture. I was blind.

After you get to a certain stage it is ‘just what you are’ so you unconsciously accept it and see past it, occasionally almost as if it is ‘normal’. There are those dark moments when you drill into yourself about being a ‘fat lump’ et cetera.

Yet being obese isn’t a crime unless you’re stealing the food, there are many people who are completely happy with their size and I don’t see a single thing wrong with it, if they’re not suffering from lack of self esteem or confidence, have no money problems or extreme health issues then I see nothing wrong at all, it is their choice, and has nothing to do with anyone.

Looking back at the sheer size of the person I was, pictures and so on, I can’t recognise myself, I can’t see myself in that person in the photographs. I’ve changed more than physically. I’m now an athlete and I compete regularly over distances from 5K’s to half marathons.

Most people notice. I hurt my knee for a year and got fat because I couldnt run or walk very far. I put on about 4 inches on the waist. Now that me knee is better I am able to do something about it and am getting back to my old level of fitness. I've always been used to being fit so I guess I had a conscience about getting fat. People who don't aim to be fit will just be used to the idea of being fat and probably not do anything about it. It takes commitment and determination to engage in an effiective fitness regime and by nature fat people are lazy so that makes it very difficult to keep on exercising.

Maybe people who are obese are the opposite of those with anorexia......when they look in a mirror they see a skinny person looking back at them! So, those who were obese before are still or more obese and those who were skinny/slender are still the same.....how much food would we have to eat to become obese.....not that we want to! Unfortunately it is easy to lie to yourself and not face the situation but we don't want to sound disrespectful to anyone fighting against their weight because it is a real problem to millions of people. xx

They notice but they don't have enough willpower to stop eating all that junk food and it becomes a habit and soon enough they wake up and they are obese

If you don't look at yourself in the mirror and think you look like everyone else you won't notice.

Fast food available at every corner and it is much easy to buy a ready meal with lots of fat in it instead of home cooking. Plus stress all over.

I think they do notice, they just don't care... if you are fat, you might as well be REALLY fat I guess? So why worry about it?
A lot of people just enjoy their junk food life style too much to change or do anything about it. They enjoy their pork pies and don't want to do any exercise.

They don't.
They think that they're anorexic and every time they look in the mirror they see a fat person.
