Nutmeg and marsala wine are great additions, giving it a fuller flavor than the run of the mill recipe. I constantly see people going on about the additions of raisins, but that route I have yet to take. I got the idea (about the nutmeg and wine) from a medieval cooking site somewhere on the net and haven't turned back since. Good luck, and I hope you find what you are looking for.
