I agree with Phoenix on this one. No president should apply his religious beliefs. On that thought, Obama is someone I'm seriously considering on voting for.

I think his ties with Islam are exactly why he should NOT be elected. Even Christ said you can not serve two masters, of course he was talking about money and God, but I think in this case you are talking about running the only world super power that is free, as well as a man who was raised to have very different ideals regarding religion, freedom, and America's place in the world. Now on the flip side, I do not have a issue with religion in general in politics. I believe it says a lot about the backbone of the candidate. Consider these who where very proud of their Christian heritage. Washington, as well as Lincoln. NO one could argue that they where anything other than upright men, who lived their faith. I have seen the face of the godless, Hitler, Stalin, Mao. I have seen the watered down version, that allows mothers to butcher their children in the name of choice, while rapist, and murderers are set free as a "civilized" response.

I am very uncomfortable with how religious he makes himself out to be. I agree with the previous two posters; a willingness to co-mingle religion and politics should be a disqualifier, not an asset.
