oseph Smith boasted that he did more than Jesus to keep a church together.
"God is in the still small voice. In all these affidavits, indictments, it is all of the devil--all corruption. Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on the top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet . . . " (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408-409).

It still exists because it is true.

Jonah did not want to go to Ninevah. David fell from grace. Isaac was tricked by Esau. Peter denied Christ three times. Does this make Christianity any less true?

Interesting that you refer to Mormonism as a sect, when it's one of the few that isn't. Just about every Christian church out there splintered off of catholicism. Mormonism (aka The Church of Jesus Christ) didn't splinter off of anything, but was rather restored by Christ through Joseph Smith.

It exists because it was prophesied that it would roll forward as a stone cut without hands until it filled all the earth. That prophecy is being fulfilled today.

by the way....you should look up the word "sect" if you don't know what it means:

a group regarded as heretical or as deviating from a generally accepted religious tradition.

Sure, if you read CARM and places like that, you wonder, but, really, ASK yourself that question and see if you really can't come up with a good answer.

Because, if you look at something and think "How can ANYONE believe this drek!" but then, you realize that MILLIONS of people DO believe it, well, perhaps what they believe and what YOU THINK they believe are two entirely different things.

Try checking out http://www.mormon.org and see another POV. Maybe you will find teh answer to your question.

Because it is the only 100% true religion. Others have bits and pieces of the gospel, but not the whole gospel as does the LDS.
Thanks for asking.
