Actually there is no one answer to this. There are many different types of cancer and of chemo. It can be daily for a few days and then off for a while, every 2, 3 or 4 weeks for a few treatments or until the chemo stops working.

It also depends on the agressiveness of the cancer and the overall health of the patient. For instance in breast cancer one of the most common treatments (adriamycin and carboplatin) was given every 3 weeks and often still is, but now sometimes it is given every 2 weeks. One frequency seems right for one person, the other for another person.

Hope you never have to have any.

Depends on the cancer, the age of the person, the stage of their cancer and how well the persons body can handle treatment. I was a child when I had my cancer and they are very aggressive with children. I recieved adult dose chemo for 3 weeks, 3 times a day with a week break and then back at it for 2 years. This was for fibrohystiocytoma.

There are more than 200 types of cancer and it is treated by chemotherapy depending upon the type of disease, Stage, Grade and requirements. Some require strong dosages and some mild. Tablet forms are given on daily basis. Chemos given on with IV separately or with 2 or 3 medicines are given once in 21 days. The main cause of Chemo administration is to kill the cancerous cells, but they also kill other cells and blood cells, as a result of this the blood counts drop. So unless the blood counts increase to the desired levels the next dose may not be given.

Chemotherapy may be given in different ways, depending on the type of cancer you have and the chemotherapy drugs used:

* Most often it is given by injection into a vein (intravenously). This is known as intravenous chemotherapy.
* Some drugs are given as tablets or capsules (orally).
* Some are injected into a muscle (intramuscular injection).
* Others may be injected just under the skin (subcutaneous injection).

So, unless you specify all the details mentioned in the first para the exact frequency of administrating chemo can not be given -

The previous three answers indicate the variables for chemo treatment. The norm for diffuse large B cell lymphoma is every three weeks for 6 to 8 sessions. Catscans are given at intervals to determine how successful the chemo is . Then the number of sessions will be determined accordingly.

I had Dukes C Adenocarcinoma. Chemo was 3 cycles at 6 treatments per cycle. Other Cancers may be more or less depending on type, grade etc.

each cancer has its own regiment. some chemo is like you said once a week some can last over the corse of a month with a long hospital stay. there are no two people a like so no two treatments are a like. i hope it helps you to understand a little more.

Ovarian cancer. How often is Chemo

it always depends on the severity and the spread of the cancer, because there are a lot of sessions that a cancer patient has to be on chemo.blood workouts has to be done to detect the presence of cancer cells..sometimes a blood transfusion has to be done prior to chemo, because after the chemo..RBC(red blood cells) will really go down,,,and the patient is also prone to infection..

It depends on the situation. There's different types of cancer, stages of cancer and how one's body reacts to the cancer.
