Is it hard for you to grow?
I think they pretty attractive plants.
nice aroma.
But
I have been in Seattle since 1989 and have done a lot of yardwork around town. And people in Seattle just LOVE their gardens.
Gardenyist place I ever been in.
But I don't think I have seen catnip as large as those in friends garden.
They gotta be three feet tall and wide...they just grow and grow.
and a couple of neighborhood cats LOVE to roll around in it.
Does that sound large for catnip?

Tallest catnip I saw was close to 5' tall, but it was all thin and trying to grow through a patch of thistles, so the bottom third didn't have leaves on that. It was pretty tall though.

Healthy big plants here are about waist high if they have ideal growing conditions. But I find that they get taller than they do broad, on average, so they weren't 3' wide.

Planting Catnip

Seeds should be sown 1/8 inch deep and covered with fine soil. Press your catnip seeds down. If you grow your seeds indoors, they should germinate in 10-20 days. If you grow them outdoors, you should plant your seeds in the fall for spring plants. When your catnip plants are about 2 inches tall, thin them. When you’re ready to harvest in the late summer, cut and dry the mature leafy tops and leaves. However, if you want a second harvest, cut the catnip plant back severely after the first flowering.

Days to Germinate: 10-20
