well basically people are not all alike. we have varying degrees of curiosity, creativity, patience and independence of thought. but there is probably a bit more going on in the heads of 'most people' than they let on.

Because rational people value evidence.

And if you don't see, touch or hear something, and aren't told about it, how does it enter your brain in the first place?

They do, which is why they tend to believe in what they can see, touch and to a lesser extent, what they have been told.

to find a personal truth one needs to receive data, assimilate and understand it and come to personal conclusions.
in order to receive that data one needs to see, feel, smell and hear that data.

because society and the law are based on religon, and people are comfortable with the way things are,so they attack free thinking.
