I heard this from someone at my high school and I don't understand why it would, please be detailed if you know. By carbinated beverages I don't mean just diet soda but also sparkling water and other drinks like that.

why does the co2/suger combo decrease muscle mass and also I get alot of calcium Because I eat pretty healthy so does that cancel out what I lose in bone density?

No. Carbonation has nothing to do with muscle mass. That makes zero sense. You are in high school arent you?

The combination of the CO2 and sugar breaks down calcium . so yes it can decrease some muscle mass along with bone mass or density.
I don't know why it does but both my doctor and chiropractor says it does.
It also breaks down the discs in the back
