Why does something serious has to happen for humans to do something about the matter and when it's kind of too late?

2007-10-08 19:44:13 · 20 answers · asked by Anonymous in Environment Global Warming

Everyone including companies are just too concerned on making money for themselves and having the most luxurious or best stuff. Also why do parents care so much for their kids in the short-run without thinking that they can do something to save their kids in the long-run.

I am concerned about it. But not the way you may think. First, it is impossible to stop it. There have been innumerable periods of heating and cooling of the earth throughout it's history. The sun is pretty big and it is pretty hot. I couldn't cool it off if I wanted to. Neither could all of the governments on the planet. The thing that concerns me most is that governments will try to control our behavior based on bad, junk science. If all oil, gas and coal use were to stop right now and there was never another bit of it burned for the next thousand years, it would have zero effect on global warming. It is utterly impossible for us to have the slightest effect on it, one way or the other.

Politicians and people who want to change America will try to fundamentally alter our lives under the guise of "saving the planet".

I am so sad that so many millions of people are so duped by lying politicians into believing 1) that there is a problem, and 2) that politicians can do anything about it.

The only result that will ever be realized by governments controlling our energy use is that the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer and government will become enormously powerful and out of control.

If you want to understand the hype about global warming, I urge you to read this article, here is the link:

http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/global-warming020507.htm

Please do not feel bad about not understanding the issue. They really try to scare us.

And please do not let bad people ridicule you because you are concerned. I know that most people are genuinely concerned. It is not bad to be concerned. It is like running for the exits if a fire alarm goes off. It makes sense to run.

But please understand that this is a false alarm. Of course, we run when the alarm sounds, but we check out the building and make sure it really is on fire before we actually start pouring water in.

If you read this article, you can decide then if you should pour water in, figuratively speaking.

I, for one, am walking in the other direction, trying to to tell people that it is just a false alarm.

I am glad you care about our planet. I do too. I just do not believe in fixing things that are not broken, especially if billions of people are going to be made less safe and much poorer by trying to fix unbroken things.

Take care and please read this!
Alan

Most people are aware of global warming..most dont believe the horror stories peddled by people who have jobs or grants relying on global warming ..It wasnt that long ago people were told to drink radioactive water as it would be good for them. That was doctors saying that !! Remember how the earth was flat...map makers made a fortune ,cause who wants to fall of the end of the world. What about the global cooling in the 30's ,when temperatures fell over the whole world...scientists proclaimed the coming of another ice age. The facts are ,the earth has always heated up and cooled down .The earth has been much much warmer in the past, Carbon dioxide is also being used as a weapon of global warming "experts". They also fail to mention co2 levels were thousand times higher in the past. How long ago was this? well the dinosaurs didnt mind the warm weather !! Global warming is now big business and major money is invoved....most people are better informed than to believe "the earth is doomed" camp.

People do care. Here's some reasons why they aren't really doing anything. YET:

1: To stop global warming, we must cut down the burning of fossil fuels-driving cars. People are not willing to go without cars. But heres the good news. Environmentalists are thinking of creating solar powered cars. This would most likely be cheaper to buy AND you'd save money on petrol because you wouldn't need any.

2: To stop global warming, we must also not use so much electricity. People keep ~Leaving lights on~Turning on the heater instead of putting on a jumper~Watching TV and going on the computer instead of going out side.

3. Propellants. Everyone hates them. Just incase you didn't know, propellants are harmful substance that make global warming worse. People keep using items (Like air freshoners ect.) Instead of ones that dont have propelllants. (Orange Power has no proppellants and it smells great too! You should try it if you love the environment)

4: Cows produce methane gases which pollute the environment. What also produces this gas, is rotting rubbish. Most people don't know this so they keep polluting the earth.

5: Parents, or medium-aged people that don't have kids may not care, as they or their family will not be affected (This is very uncommon, though)

I Hope this helps.

Why does Algore foist of the most heinous predictions about GW but when asked what we should do he says to just trim your carbon foot print here and there when you can? He don't sound as worried about it as Incontinent truth would have you think. Hey want to have an effect on GW tell the Power brokers and big movers "You Lead I'll follow", "I ain't into that scratching for worms while you dine on caviar and chastise your minions."

We will never make it though, City folk and urbanites are afraid of the dark and can't even turn off streetlights and exterior lighting when everybody is in bed.
But to feel good you sort your trash and change your light bulbs and scream and holler at us recalcitrant's

I would say it is like this:
About 1 third of people don't care at all. You may live in an area where people are just like this
About 1 third care but not to the point of changing their routine (eg drive hybrid, cloth diapers for baby, install CFL lights)
About 1 third cares and does the steps. These will benefit from of a better future and healthier kids

In Europe more people care, America is more consumerist, but America is changing less slowly since Al Gore' movie and Katrina

Companies just want money and people just don't care because nothings happening yet but acually affects of global warming are happening already, temperatures on earth are rising and its getting hotter then the past. Like llast year, where I live we USUALLY get snow in december maybe even november/ late october. But we didn't get snow until January or february because thats when the earth is farthest away from the sun. but it could be something else. But the point is that people don't worry about things like that until the affects of them start to kick in. But I know many people who are concerned about things like this including me :)
I do really hope people do something about it before its too late. or if people cared more about it and those big fancy car companies like SUVs go out of business because so many people cared.

Most people do not wont to look at things that fall beyond their daily routine they dont want to get out of comfort zone. Thats the major problem with many people and hence they are not concerned.
These people will be concerned when they are directly affected by pollution and global warming, this impact should be strong enough to register major changes.

Global warming or the enhanced greenhouse effect has hardly even been confirmed as the cause of the climatic change we have been seeing over the last few years. This is likely to change in the near future.
The world is full of worries, some more pressing than others.

I do not think that there are a "minimal amount of people concerned." For one, it depends where you live. Japan is huge on the Global Project, and so is much of Europe. America seems to be generally less concerned, but that is only because of who has the power. When you suggest such things as using alternative fuel, this freaks most politicians out. Remeber, most of these guys got a degree in politics and business. Their world revolves around such things as the economy, science is just not their forte. You can preach to them all you want, but of course most of them will not listen, because to them improving and maintaining the "system" that we are all born into is number one. Suggestions to fight global warming simply contradicts what a lot of our system is about. Oil is black gold. There is no profit to be made in a energy source that is abundant and harmless. Just wait until the process of global warming is accelerating fast enough to be observed in a person's lifetime. Then it will be hard for them to argue... but wait.. is that now?!
