I had to delete most of my partitions so that I could combine them to make one but something went wrong. I did using the Vista installer & all my drives accidently got wiped out except for my software drive, which is still intact.
I have made new drives & I tried installing Win XP in either drive (except for Software drive as it does not have enough space) but it does not work!
After extracting all the files from the Win XP Cd onto the hard drive the system restarts & the main setup does not start instead its says "NTLDR MISSING" ..Press enter to reboot PC with bootable device...
I can't go anywhere after that cuz if I press enter it goes back to the XP cd & everthing starts all over again & it keeps going on a loop & does not stop!...
Plz help....
thanks...

Guys I'm not trying to install 2 OS in the same PC. I want to get 1 of them working, either that can be Vista or preferably XP...
Also, my partitions are quite large. I tried to install it once on 21 GB drive, 31 GB drive & at last a 52 GB drive but it did not work...
Also, I booted the setup from a CD. What I mean is, I put my XP installer CD in then formatted a drive & set install in it & all files got extracted onto it & the PC rebooted but the main setup does not start after the reboot...

Basicly what you are recieving is an error message informing you that the partition is not large enough to hold the XP Operating SYStem.
When you partition a hard drive and expect to have more than one Operating System you must have enough room to do it. You DO NOT.
The only way to fix this is to start from scratch and make your partitions larger, so that it will hold the operating System. It appears that it is downloading only part of the operating system and not the rest.
I am not sure why you are getting the error message that the Microsoft NT Installer is missing.

On Mistake I see you made - you "extracted all the files from the Win XP CD onto the hard drive".

That is not the way to install XP or Vista.

You boot off the XP or Vista CD and follow the instructions. That is why the NTLDR is missing.

To dual boot Windows of any form, you need to install it first, then install the other OS. Microsoft systems assume there is no other system in the world and won't set up correctly with another OS loaded. It also wants to be on the first drive on the machine or it gets very sulky. Once it is loaded you can then load the second OS and the boot loader for this creates the option for dual boot.

Before going any further, might want to check the MS Knowledge Base about dual boot XP and Vista. What I read states it will not work and after the attempt the Vista will not even work properly.

You have to reformat all ur hard drives because i think that linux that u have installed formats drive into exif3(linux file system) so winxp cannot recognise it thus u reformat all ur harddrives to ntfs file system................................
