Seabees are currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, working with Provincial Restortation Teams. i assume you are not joining the "Navy guards" because there is no such designation in the Navy's organization, but you are joining the Naval Reserves. A quick review of the current mobilization statistics shows a lot of individual mobilization augmentees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalions of the Naval Reserve.

as a SeaBee Reservist you WILL be going to Iraq or Afghanistan. In fact, most of the CBs over there are Reservists. In fact i would count on it happening within 6-12 months of finishing A school.

What are "Navy Guards"? Seabees are trained in infantry tactics and weapons so you will be doing all that fun stuff. Plus youre trained extensively in your particular field (ie. equip. operator). One of the best jobs in the Navy, a real honor.Get sandy Sailor!

I assume by overseas you mean Iraq or Afghanistan. Regardless of what the majority of users on here assume, the entire U.S. military is not in Iraq or being sent there. It will depend on what unit you are assigned to and what rotation they are on for deployments. Once again, not every single unit and branch of the military is in Iraq. You could be sent anyhwere you are needed.

SeeBee (CB = construction battalion). Where do you think most of the construction is going on??? Reserves are part of the military too, & ya'll don't have a regular duty station either.

Congrats, you're going.

my friends bf is in the navy and hes gone over seas but not to iraq or anywhere near there, so you might end up going over seas but just to do humanitarian work, which is what he did

according to our president..we are at war and by joining to protect our country (thank you) you will also be in a position to go overseas to fight for our president. while my family supports you, we do not agree with the president's choices.

Almost none.

You might get activated for every disaster though.
