It depends entirely on what you want to do. Australia is a huge country, bigger than the USA or Europe so you can expect a wide variety of climates. As far as weather is concerned, southern Australia is best in the summer months, October to April while northern Australia is best in the winter, the dry season, May to September. The cheapest is the shoulder period - March/April and September/October.

It depends on where you are going.
Some states have 4 seasons - so if you are coming here to get a suntan, you may come in the middle of winter.
Then you have the tropics - top end of NT and North Qld where it's hot all year around.

Are you backpacking, coming over for sports, shows etc? We really need more info.

Plan to elaborate a bit more so we can help?

It depends on exactly where you're planning to visit and what weather conditions you like as well as what you'd ike to see and do.

Australia is a large country and has quite a varied climate from location to location. More information about your likes/dislikes etc is really required.
