opinion and if I disagree and give my view I'm preaching. Damned if you don't and damned if you do. Also as I don't wear my religion on my sleeve, people at work do not know I have a strong faith. Talk about pushing stuff down your throat. I listen to their preaching the opposite of what I believe everyday. Tv, the movies, disrespect my faith all the time. If you don't believe in God, then get over it. Why waste your time fighting what you don't believe. It has got to the point Atheists have become a religion also. They have meetings, blogs, beliefs. The difference being Atheists seem to have a growing contempt for people that believe in God, and all their meetings, etc. grow more contempt / hate for God loving people. Christians on the other hand have meetings etc. and grow in love and faith...Also Christians don't disagree with science, etc. A small fringe believe the earth is 6000 yrs. old and evolution doesn't happen. So will you keep your Atheist views to yourself?

1. About half of the US believes in young earth creation. I wouldn't call that a "small fringe".

2. Please tell me what beliefs all atheists have in common. Please tell me anything that all atheists have in common besides not believing in a god.

3. Even if we DID have common beliefs, we would still not be a religion. You don't call the Republican Party a religion, now do you? And yet they have meetings, blogs, and beliefs.

4. I don't lump all Christians together. I see people as individuals. You, however, are doing exactly what angers you in others... generalizing millions of people in one fell swoop.

5. I don't care if you talk about your beliefs when it is obvious that others are willing to discuss the topic. If I talk against religion, I expect people to disagree and say so. If you talk for religion, you should expect the same.

It's when I say I don't want to hear it and yet the person continues to preach that I have a problem. It's when people knock on my door uninvited that I have a problem. It's when others use their religion to justify hate and intolerance that I have a problem. It's when the religious try to infiltrate our government with their beliefs that I have a problem.

Some do, some don't. A lot of atheists are full of themselves and do it out of anger. I'm an atheist, but don't really like to lump myself in with everyone else. I just have a difference of opinion, and I'll tell you if you ask me, but I still respect you for your beliefs. An atheist doesn't stand to gain a whole lot by preaching to you about science, except the feeling that they've enlightened someone. A Christian in some denomination's may be told that they'll go straight to hell if they don't bring in new converts. That is a pretty big motivator for some who believe that.

This is called a backlash and, in my humble opinion, is caused by a mix of insecure beliefs. While you may not go around noticing the splinters in everyones eye, there are many, i doubt the majority, that are all too willing. Same goes for the other side. There are many atheist all to willing to use their superior knowledge as the blunt club it is. Both these groups have something in common they are very insecure about their belief and must affirm it by attempting to convince others that they are wrong. Atheism is a religion, by its very nature they 'believe' there is no god. One thing to bare in mind lets not forget not to long ago an atheist would have had terrible things done to them for holding such beliefs, much like the early christians in the times of nero. Why? Well it turns out that for some reason those with the most intelligence are not always those with the loudest voice. Have you ever heard god has a sense of humor, I know nature does.

You make a good point, but there is one problem. Books like The Catcher in the Rye are works of fiction. Everyone understands that. The problem with the Bible is some people take it as the literal truth and attempt to force Biblical ideas on the rest of society - the gay marriage issue is just one example. Myself and other atheists would feel less need to vocally reject the Bible if it wasn't being presented by fact in very real ways.

If you notice, almost all of the "bashing" done by atheists on this site is against Christians. Questions that could be directed to any believers will usually be directed at Christians. There's just something about Christ that really disturbs atheists. I think He scares them, or maybe they know deep down that God does exist and we are the group who says so the loudest. I don't know, it's sad. How else do you explain their hatred? Even Jews and Muslims don't bash Christians very often.

Ignore the bashing, they just want attention.

I'm not an atheist, but I don*t embrace religion. I will say that atheists don't bother me or try to know what I believe or don't believe, but religionists give me stuff, try to get me to go to their churches, explain why I must listen to God, etc. And this is at work! One man even took to putting printouts of religious poems about feeling weak and in despair and needing help, when I've never shown any such behaviors at all! In fact, our only contact was when I helped him figure out how to print his papers from our library computers!

I'm in shock (and awe) that you could say these things, given that religionists spend billions of dollars each year on missionary work, and atheists don't even have a collection plate or organization with leaders.

Your reality doesn't exist in my world.

Even if someone does not mean it as pushing, believers often word things in ways that other people still see as preaching, pushing, and belittling.

I have seen people on here say they are not pushing, and in the same paragraph they word things in a way that others do see them pushing. And I honestly think they probably can't even see it.

Maybe if people stuck with "my opinion is" kind of talk... like "I dunno, I think it's this way..." rather then saying "No, IT IS this way..."

Will I keep mine to myself? You just tried to tell me what I do and what my 'belief' is. I have never gone to any meetings, I'm not a part of anything like that and don't care to be. I don't blog, and my "belief" is not so... it is the LACK of belief. I.E. A lack of cookies is not having cookies.

Some Christians do push Religion down peoples throat. But the majority do not. Just like the majority of Atheists do not bad mouth Christians. But a handful do. Peace

Everything you speak of is true because both are but just a part of the human interpretation within our minds.
Belief or no belief is just a thought pattern.
It’s nothing more than that.
Everything beyond that is just brainwashing from past ages.
What's not real and what's true doesn't even come to it.
Its what we choose to program our minds to believe.
